is not a pipe.
Here's the premise of the game, which is one part Parliamentary simulation, one part never ending story, and one part roleplay.
Here's the basic premise: Some nation out there has just peacefully gained it's independance. An interim government is in place, and a new government is about to be elected.
From among the diverse peoples, a number of candidates (probably three or six, depending on interest) rise to become candidates for President. Each has his own strengths and platforms, and can appeal to a certain group of people of this nation.
The new electoral standards have set up the method for the new President to be elected. A candidate must win a plurality of the popular vote, as well as a plurality of the electoral vote (each state has one electoral vote, with it's electoral vote going to the candidate with the most popular votes in that state). If two different people win these seperate elections, a new vote occurs, with only those two candidates, with winner of the popular vote taking all.
But, how do you gain support? The system I plan to base this on is that of another game, Republic: The Revolution. There are three 'resources' available to each candidate: Force, Influence, and Wealth. When different types of actions go up against each other, Force will have an advantage over Influence, Influence will have an advantage over Wealth, and Wealth will have an advantage over Force. Using certain Actions that require a certain amount of one of these resources, you can gain support for yourself, take support away from an opponent, strength your own character temporarily, or weaken an opponent's character temporarily.
The big thing that seperates this game from being a Never-Ending Story is that anyone can participate at another level. Anyone can join, but there can only be n number of candidates. Everyone else plays the role of a major public figure, who can chose to support any candidate he or she may wish. This support is essential, as it can give a candidate more Force, Wealth, or Influence needed to run a campaign, essentially adding another dimension. Candidates not only need to convince regular people to support him, they also need the support of other forum posters.
I'll only start planning this out formally with better defined stories, etc, if I can get a decent number of people who might want to play. Please, if you're interested, post so here. Also indicate if you'd want to play as one of the candidates, or as a supporter of a candidate.
Thanks.
