Sorry, I suppose you don;t get many chemists on this forum then?
I'm sure even most chemists would say that it was reflecting the colour of the sky! I did physics at uni and that's what I answered first, before being asked the obvious question: "What about when it's cloudy?" It's one of those things you're taught when you're a kid that just sticks.
 
Well whenever I see the sea it's grey, so I'd say it's reflecting the colour of the sky pretty well...

It's usually greyish when it's cloudy, so it at least reflects the sky somewhat. :p

It's selective *scattering* of blue wavelengths of light by air particles.
The reason why skies are red in the sunrise and sunset is because light has to travel further through the atmosphere - by time which most of the blue wavelengths have been scattered about while the other wavelengths were transmitted to the point experiencing dawn or dusk.

No absorption occurs
 
You mean the sky isn't blue because it reflects the color of the ocean? :(
