Where can I cast Bloom? I've only found one space - an empty hill next to a Life Node.

As the Bannor, I have a Law Mana - but when I built a Priest, Law was not an upgrade uption. Why?

Can Priests only be sacrificed to build temples in the cities of other civs?

If you have law mana, you get the law upgrade for free. The upgrades only deal with mana you dont have...currently.

WHen you get up to LAW II etc, youll be offered the chance to upgrade again.

Here is a question I have asked before and never received an answer for...

When you want to trade with an AI civ you often find the techs, resources, declare war, etc. in RED meaning he will not trade those with you.

Is there some way you can put your techs, resources, etc. in RED meaning you will not trade with AI civs?

It really gets to be a nuisance sometimes with AI civs constantly proposing outrageous deals again and again.

Thanks.

Actually, iirc, mana has no effect on PRIEST units, only adepts, mages, conjurers and their upgrades.

Priests have access to upgrades based on what religion you follow--being bannor is irrelevant, did you follow order? My OO priests will never get law, nor will your FoL, i think.

Bloom should work on any empty (meaning unimproved) plains or grassland space. If it doesn't, I believe that is a but, although I am rarely leaves myself.

Priests should be able to be sacrificied for temples in any of your cities that don't have them already, are yo experiencing something different?

And Sarisin, no, you must say no and take the diplo hit. Putting it in red would mean I'll never trade this even if the alternative is war, which is what it means for the AI. Not that that isn't a valid option often.

Oh, OK, did not know that.

It doesn't. I'm playing with .14 with the additional upgrade made by Maian http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=178391 Maybe this is a factor?

Yes. City did not have Leaves, sent priest, could not sacrifice. Moved in Disciple, spread fol, still no go.

I didn't see a thread on Strategy (maybe there should be one), so I thought I would ask here...

Could anyone give me some basic strategy on playing the Grigori/Cassiel?

I am lost with this Agnostic trait as I usually make a beeline for one or more of the religions.

Should I avoid as much as possible the techs that are related to religion? Certainly I should not try to be the first to found a religion.

Also, what unit can I get to give me the Medic promotion? I liked to always have a Disciple/Thane, etc. in a stack of units to assist in healing. I am talking about early game, where I am now.

Thanks for sharing your strategy on playing this civ.

as far as priests + temples go, i've been able to use them to build temples in other players' cities as well as your own - it seems strange that you can't...

I've never played them, though they look neat, but you need Medicine and an infirmary to build their Medic units.

I tried them (Grigori) as my first v14 game. Grab medicine if you want healers. You can ignore most religious techs, allowing you to focus elsewhere--grab one t2 unit quick (hunters, archers, or axemen) to upgrade your first adventurer to. Then I"d head over to the magic techs, because strength of will is doubley deliscious for you--archmage and inquisitors, and your inquisitors can be built from scratch rather than upgraded like religious ones.
Put the national epic in a city near a river, so you can put the G. tavern there, as it requires a brewery that must be near a river.
You can pick your allies without regard to religion, though the neutral ones will probably like you best.

Edit: Was not played on raging barbs, so your mileage may vary.

Thanks for your advice that will help me in my game later. I am only in yr. 800 now and getting pounded by raging barbs led by those pesky chariots. Fortunately, the other AI civs are dropping like flies, but this brings more barbs to me also.

I have had a hard time keeping my people happy with no religion. My only city has only grown to 9. On the plus side, you are right about the Adventurer. I cashed in and made him a Hunter. I have plenty of gold. The other things is that this civ is really a Great Person machine.

But, I miss the religion and early medic promotion of the disciples, etc. Also, the disciple was great for instantly expanding the size of new cities - not that this matters to me as I cannot get a second city compliments of the barbs.

Thanks again for your response.
