General Win7 problems

Hi everybody,

This is my first post on your wonderful website! Felicitations to one and all.

I am a pretty casual Civ4 BTS player, and have recently invested in a new PC, fitted with Windows 7. I've installed Civ4, Warlords and Beyond the Sword onto my machine, then installed the 3.19 update, and found that Civ4 will run, though with some error messages in the title page about an incompatible microphone or something.

However, I then tried to download and install the Bug4 mod for BTS, and the mod wouldn't install - kept saying there were compatibility issues or something with the programme.

I have a few questions that I hope one of you kind people might enlighten me with:

- am I doing something obviously wrong somewhere? On other threads, people have mentioned 'installing as an administrator' - what does that mean? There is only one user account on my machine, and I am the administrator on this
- does anybody know if Firaxis are planning a Win7 patch to allow Civ4 games to work properly in Win7?
- are any of the wonderful people that designed the Bug4 mod planning to produce a Bug5 mod, and will this work properly with Win7?

Possibly.
To install as an administrator, right click on the program or the shortcut and click "Run as Administrator". I didn't try to install bug, but I couldn't run even BtS until I had installed it as an admin.

I also just upgraded to a new machine with Win7 and was able to install and run BAT 2.0 (which has BUG within it). I did not have to install as Administrator. I am not having any problems other that a (hopefully) minor graphics issue (see my Red Igloos thread below).

I just installed Win 7 Pro, and BTS, and had no problems at all installing BUG.
To install as Admin, right click on the shortcut, 'Run as Administrator', as Jazradel said.
