I have always associated the Mongols a bit differently, since I am a deep admirer of the Mughal rulers and society as well as the Golden Horde and the Empire of Timur. The Mongols really did deepen links along the silk road and really allow for the spread of cultures, languages and the formation of new ethnic groups. There also not being a single 'Mongol Empire' for any truly extended period of time, I think people underrate their impact and ignore the massive cultural contributions they made, most architecture associated with India after all, was built under Mongol rulers.

Nah, I think most of us just don't really care about architecture beyond the 'well that's a cool building' stage.
