I'll try to post a save later (don't have it handy at the moment).

Here's the situation: I have some overseas territory in which I've established a colony to secure oil (the one and only instance I've seen thus far!), and have established roads to said colony. Assuming I have roads established to a harbor in one of my overseas cities, and given that I have several harbors (with roads and railroads to the capital) established at home, do I then have access to oil and all that it provides? I would assume the answer is "yes", but...

Thanks.

You could have a war with someone else going on which prevents the trade route from taking place. So, not necessarily.

A lot depends on the land around your harbor. If it is inside a bay, the bay could be blocked by enemy units and deny the resource. If you are on the open coast this would be much harder.

However, given that the AI does not normally use naval units very wisely, a blockade is unlikely.

But the road to the Oil could be cut or blocked by enemy units. This, too, will deny your resource. It is also much more likely.

i cannot even remember when i became modern in a game or came even far into the IA... would an airstrip connect a lux/ressource to my empire via airports?

have you got navigation, i am not sure how this effects trade routes in IA if you don't have it

i guess if you check what resources are aavailable in harbour city this will help tell

Both Magnetism and Navigation allow ocean trade. Since 1940LaSalle is talking oil, he's up ocean trade since a very long time. If also some map trading has been done and LaSalle has a clear view of an ocean route between the resource and his capital, only some freak situation would not get him the oil.
I don't think a blocked road will cut off the resource, it needs to be pillaged.
No, blocking would be enough. You might be confused with trade between different parties. A block of a nation that is only at war with one of two trading nations will not block the resource, because they will still allow the nation they're friendly with to use the route. But if you're just trading with yourself, so to speak, to just get a resource to your capital, then an enemy on your trade route will cut that trade route off.

That is the case.

Well, in essence that's the case: I have a clear route between the overseas harbor(s) near the oil source, and several homeland harbors connected to the capital by road and rail.

only some freak situation would not get him the oil.

Sounds good to me. I'll follow up as things develop. (FWIW, a new homeland source of oil popped up within the last turn or two before I saved/quit last night, but I plan to see through the overseas ploy to conclusion to have a second source.)

You're probably right...I haven't played a game in a while. :)
