Getting Blamed for AI's Religion Spread.

So I've had good ole uncle Phil denounce me for converting his city.
Only thing is, that I didn't, I don't even have a religion.

Only thing I can think of is that I have captured the Indians' Holy city, and yet Gandi is stilling spreading his religion from other cities.

Hm. I just got denounced by Gilgamesh for converting 'one of their cities'. I didn't. I did re-convert one of my cities after he converted it, which I can't denounce him for (there's a thread on that already). In fact, the only converted city he has is his capital, and it has his own religion.

What I did do is defeat one of his missionaries by debate. On my territory.

How close was the missionary defeat to his capital? If it is within "combat" pressure range, the defeat of his missionary would result in negative pressure for his religion in his capital, which could prompt the grumpy response you got.

Nowhere near. And as said, nothing got converted except my city. His capital was solidly Chaldaeic (from Historical Religions mod).
