[Vanilla] Getting Hypatia reliably on emperor and higher

Do you have any tips on how to get her reliably?

I've played a bunch of games with the sole purpose of getting her on emperor and failed every single time.

mmh I never check what great ppl are available, and I usually get her on emperor. I try to focus on science and scientists gpp on all my games tho

I’ve got Hypatia on Deity several times when she was the first scientist, but it’s not guaranteed. Basically take Goddess of the Harvest (like in every game) and chop out the Oracle by around turn 50. Then faith buy her. The sooner you get campuses down the cheaper she will be to buy. Not totally reliable, but it’s the best I’ve come up with without running projects and setting myself back a bunch.

Got her when I am early and can be bothered. To be fair I will often place a Campus first and being a Scottish can help.
The AI will buy her if they can, everyone is half way there then wham, she is gone. Makes it hard on deity.

... it is +1... not the end of the earth and if I was honest it is sort of a bit early for me, ups the price of districts. Sure, want a knight rush and have lots of gold...go for it, sitting on mercury will give you wings but one needs to make sure you do not fly too high too soon or you may melt a bit. You can bank her by not getting libs I guess.

Have you tried a high faith start like Maori / earth goddess or Mansa sweet desert? You really need to buy the end of her as @The Highwayman says.
