Hi all. Could anyone please tell me where to get MO1???

I have MO2 and it really isn't that impressive (whoever gets the first fleet wins).

I haven't tried or seen MO3 yet.

A link for a download for MO1 would be great.

Also, does MO1 work on XP???? I use Win 98.

Yes Moo1 works on XP. If it does not work for you use DosBox. Moo3 was not universally loved.

Look at Jon's site for all you need:

What was wrong with MoO3?

I didn't like MoO2.

MoO1 was still the best. Too bad THAT game never went multiplayer.

Moo2 has a legion of fans, including me. Moo3 was just not much fun and the patch was so long in coming out that most of us dropped out before it arrived.

Too complex, too little control for the player. I think you can find many threads about it on Atari's web site.

Customized races in Moo2 mad it a lot of fun. Refitting ships made the game better. I still cannot choose one over the other. I guess becasue I had Moo1 first, it gets the edge.

I played thousands of MP games and well, I disagree.

Actually, it might be not that difficult to patch it for hotseat mode. One of my moo2 mp buddies actually hacked it 10 years ago and he had some kind of hotseat then. Though the cheating AI bonus couldnt be disabled.

He presented it on some moo2 forum....noone was interested there....he forgot about it. I asked him a few months ago but the only thing he could find was his map editor for moo1. Other parts of his project are lost.

I'm one of the ones that dropped MOO 3 before any patch arrived. Actually, I'm one of the ones that dropped MOO 3 before I knew that it needed patching. I didn't actually play it very much, but I found the interface to be very confusing (which usually isn't a deterrent for me) and I didn't like the combat system. I kept getting destroyed before I could figure out who was attacking me. Who knows? I may yet go back and give it another try.

I never played MOO 1, but I still play MOO 2 from time to time. Being able to customize your race and design & refit ships are two of my favorite features. Nick_G, I don't know how much MOO 2 you've played, but if it isn't very much, I'd urge you to give it another try. I think it's a great game.

I changed my config.sys file but it still says I need 1024 memory. Anyone know how to fix this dilemna?

You should be able to check the box that is for EMS and use auto. That is what I have used.

I doubt that the config.nt will actually have any impact. If you do create one, put it in the MPS directory and point the orion.exe to it. This is done in the proprties for the program tab under advanced.

If it is a problem for you, I would just use DosBox. It is a piece of cake and if you find the latest dfend_v2, it will set things up for you. You will not have to figure out the proper commands for DpsBox.

DosBox can be switched to full screen mode with a function key, so it is not even going to be noticed. You have your choice of a small window or full screen. I use it from time to time in a window to reduce the flipping back and forth to my desktop or browser.

I actually still have the original disc and manual. Can you believe it?

As far as getting your hands on it again...ebay.
