Getting Modulars to work

For the life of me I cannot figure out or understand why my game refuses to reccognize modulars. Whenever I load a mod, if I have dropped a modular in that mod, it NEVER shows up. And I have checked to make sure the ini file is set to one. What else could it be?

This is very frustrating because I can't even get new civilizations in my game the old way (which is editing all the xml's one xml at a time, as either a mod or custom assets; the game crashes before it even loads whenever I try to add a new Civ like Israel [downloaded from Strategy only]).

How do you get modulars to be reccognized by the game??

One thing i can think of, is:
; Modular XML Loading
ModularLoading = 1
Must be set in both the Games and the Mods .ini files, if running a mod.

I have exact information on how to do civs listed in post # 10, of my Vampire Civ, and if that does not work i have a Copy Civ that i make when i test civs you can look at it and see what you are doing wrong?

in the copy civ you just put it next to AfterWorld, Road to War,folders and dont change anything at all, just add the civs in the Custom Civ area, see if this helps, if not write again and i will keep helping ok.

I'll give it a shot and report back here. But I also thought is was worth mentioning that I narrowed down the cause of the crash and it seems that the problem lies somewhere with Israel's unique units (not sure which one exactly) in the XML which was causing the crash. Something is wrong with one of the UU's. I'm kind of sure the same thing happened when I tried to install the Aboriginines a couple weeks ago but I don't remember 100%.

Ok so I tried what you said. Even used your CopyCiv template and simply put your Israel modular into the custlom civilizations folder. The game loaded, and there was absolutely nothing but the normal BTS civs there. I am about to pull my hair out because of this. I really want to play your modulars and some from Civ Gold, but they simply will not show up in the game. I'm starting to wonder if I just have a disfunctional game or something that doesn't know what a modular is. :sad: Modular xml in the ini says it's set to 1.

What else can we troubleshoot? ANYTHING to just get them working in the game. :(

Send me a copy of what you have from the copy civ. Had another guy do this, he kept taking out certain files and you cant do that or change them in any way.

EDIT: IN the folder provided, you cant change anything, thats the biggest mistake people make, dont move anything either, just add the civs to the Custom Civ folder is all.

Thanks to strategyonly, I have managed to finally get some to work. :goodjob: Now let's just see if I can add other modulars to it, and update the leaderheads, and still keep it working. Even if it doesn't, I know how to get it back to the way it was working. ;)
