Hi,

After installing all the GOTM updates for Civ3 Vanilla (Windows), I have lost at least two leaderheads... they are permanent "?"

How do I get them back?

Do you mean for standard games or GOTM? Either way it will be because you are using the wrong pediaicons.txt file for that game. We'll try to get together a definitive full file that will cover all games at some time. Meanwhile you may have to switch files when you change between random games and gotms ... or make two copies of the civ3 installation and mod just one of them for gotm, as I do.

Well, in GOTM#31 Joan of Arc's head is a big question mark and I'm using the pediaicons.txt you supplied.

*me points finger of blaim* ;)

I thought I was using the "fixed" one. Humn... will mess with it later. Thanks :)

I had the same problem after a clean installation. You have to put the supplied pediaicons file into your [ptw dir]/scenarios/gotm25/text folder

I hope this will help you

By the way, a request to the Gotm Staff:

Would it be possible to update the old Gotm-addon packages and create one, working installation package? Right now there are so many things that can go wrong. If you install a clean installation with Gotm-Addons 21 (full), 24 and 25 you will still not be able to run Gotm without some tweaking of Pediaicons files. Besides, there are so many Pediaicons files around my scenario-dirs I'm no longer sure which is which. Another solution would of course be to take a step away from the modifications in future gotms, but I like the small things that make gotm special.

I dunno if this is wrong or not, but in GOTM#31 when you have no oil, and no aluminium, your choice of units is limited to such things as Frigate, and Nuclear Submarine...

How come the Nuclear Submarine is there?

Yes, it's under active consideration. I've had some experience of what makes gotm installers foolproof from my work on the Mac ones, and I'm now trying to reach agreement with the game designers on what should be included in a definitive pack, so that we can be sure to support forseeable games. But crystal ball gazing was never easy
