[GMR] 1 vs 1 Skirmish Tournament

I am going to the business trip in September. Unfortunetely, I will not be able to participate in the tournament. Please, Rillithain, sigh me out.

I'll be creating the games tomorrow. Now I should warn, I create all the games - and will have control over all the timers. Each game I create, the GMR admins will edit so that it will be 1x1, and I'll still have control in the timer. For this reason.. I can't promise the games will actually start tomorrow.. I'll create them, but - it will depend on the admins, they all have lives outside of the civ games, so I can't promise it will be right away they are edited to proceed.
 
ok. Using Random.org, I created a random sequence of the #'s from those that joined.

Now - as there are 19 teams, there needs to be eventually 3 byes - either all in first round, or one in rounds 1, 3 and 4. I've tried multiple bracket systems, and most seem to give the byes in the first round and then the next four rounds are normal. I'm going to follow it that way as well so it ended up with the following byes in the first round: basituldi, ekat2468 and kavalorireland. I know we all want to jump in and start playing, but this way the rest of the rounds are normal and no more byes throughout the tournament. You can see how it looks in the brackets. I'm going to start all the games for round 1 and round 2 that the names are confirmed
Because of the way the rounds have split up and not everyone plays round 1 according to the brackets, I've modified the starting era so that Round 1 and 2 are information so that everyone plays that way. I know this means that 3 people have to play the same era twice, but - I really didn't have a better way of doing it.

Most of the tournament games have now started. Please login to the GMR site and you can check your messages. It has a link to the game.

I had to make one rule change - and that is related to the timer. Apparently 2 player games cannot have a timer. We'll have to trust everyone will make moves; however, in the message I specified that if no move in 3 days, send me a PM and I'll try to reach the player. If after a reasonable time there are no moves still, then the player may get disqualified. This time frame will take into account if the player has been to the site, as well as how far along the other games are.

Remember - the purpose of a game is for fun. Lets keep it that way. Good luck everyone.

PS: the game with tommynt and kevanwithana has not been created yet as I can't find tommynt's profile name on GMR. I sent Tommy a PM on Saturday. Once he replies, then I'll create that game.
 
Hi FilthyRobot - unfortunately the brackets have already been created and the games created. The only game that hasn't been created is between tommynt and kevanwithana because I don't have tommynt's gmr profile.
 
Really hard to play an information start on quickly!

Never played either, and for some reason didn't really think about doing some practice games, really fun so far :-)

Thanks for all the work Rillithain, although it might be short story about my poor glory :-D
 
All games have been created now for the first round (except those with the bye of course)..

My game is already over.. damn those xcom units... I got smoked

I think it was a great tournament, even though I lost right away in first round... but now I'm educated on how those xcom's work.. lol
 
actually, tommy had gmr issues, and had to drop out - he was replaced by filthyrobot
