In the vanilla version of Civ IV, has anyone addressed the problem where the path moved by a unit doesn't match up with the path shown on the screen when the "go to" command is used? My patches are up to date. It's problem because if you believe it will use the "go to" path during an attack, you may find yourself attacking across a river instead of crossing the river first and then attacking.

I can't attach a save or anything because the problem is intermittent.

I've been encountering this, but I always attributed it to using to different path finding scripts for preview and execution. I'm not sure if this is the case or not, but I've found the "executed" path is the best of the two.

Not in an attack scenario because attacking across a river is a 25% penalty. The only way to ensure not getting penalized this way step the movement, moving next to the target and then attacking.

I've also seen it show me a 2 point movement path to get a location around a forest and then proceed to take the 3 point movement path through the forest.

Yeah, I've had all that happen to me too. That's why, if I doubt the path-finding capability of the computer, I use the Num-pad to move the unit.
