God-Simulation like scenario

Its a great game idea, and in my personal opinion you are missing one crucial group...

The Jews!

Thanks for the kudos, leonel...

I guess I just like this scenario because it is so different and that's a breath of fresh air...because I see so many scenario that are the same o same o...

Love the pollution idea...

This way, it redirects some of the aspects from outright translation and gives more freedom to play from different points of view...Start the scenario so that "The People" are already allied with the Forces of Good, Heathans are allied with the forces of Evil, and Athiests are Allied with Scientists. The goal should be to capture and destroy "Hell's Fire" (could be a city). Obviously if you play the forces of evil the object would be to conquer everyone.
John

I don't see how heathens can be allied with evil?
You want this scenario to be unbiased.

I think I will be playing Scientists!

I also think John is on the right track, so how about this...

Forces of Good (dudes with halos)
Forces of Evil (dudes with horns)
Athiests (free thinkers)
Scientists (non-religious builders)
Illuminati (infernal meddlers)
Fanatics (at war with everyone)

Just my suggestions...
Pity this is not a PC version.

I am actually working on a fantasy scenario, with a lot of pagan stuff in it.
Where you build an army of witches and wizards to confront an undead menace!

I like the idea that this scenario is different, it's a bit over the top,
but then again, so are most scenarios!

:goodjob:

Actually Curt, I think you are right. I meant to suggest a more "secular" civ...I suppose Heathens could be called, "Secularists". I was thinking of the word 'heathen' as 'irreligious' then I just realized its often characterized with pagan as much as uncivilized. That probably wouldn't work to be unbiased. Then again, I think I just liked the word 'heathen'...

Hey, how about "Anarchists" in there some where?

Also Leonel, I wanted to say that you might consider some really dramatic sounds in this scenario. If you could find some good thunder, lightning, and all out god-like music...that might really be cool.

Man almost 2AM, I've got to go to bed...

John

I knew someone would complain about the sounds. Well I honestly don't know how to do that. First it would take up more disk space and I'm not exactly a sound maker. It took me months to figure out how to make working picts and gifs for scenarios, it'll probably take me twice as many months to get the sounds working etc. Sorry. What you here is what you get... for the time being...

Are mac Civ sounds 22,080mhz mono?
All you need is a wave sound maker...very easy...

No Curt, that's not the case...the mac sounds are contained in AIFF files and require an Apple Transfer utility as well as another program to extract and convert. Then, you have to record your sounds and put them back if I'm not mistaken...

I don't know much about mac sounds, but I do know they are hard as heck to get working right.

Apple, eh?
Tsk! They always want to be different from the rest of us!

Um, huh?

All I have to do is open "sound app" and click the convert button... ;) :p

I do have no idea to why the mac civ 2 porters chose to change the format to aiff, we can play all kinds of sound files with no problems... :)

I've got a good Idea for music!

Have you ever played FFVIII, leonel? It has great music! If you could some how find copies of the FVIII music on the net, you'd have perfect music for your scen.

Well,

There you go! I had to bring it up...but now there's a solution :)

See...I'm that much of a pain in the arse after all...hehe

But seriously, the reason I brought up the sounds is because it really does set the mood...and if you're going to do something of this genre, it might really help it along.

Just do a little experimentation...you can get pretty creative on this I think!

Excellent scenario, leonel. I thought of doing a god scenario once, but in an ancient middle-east sort of world.

I have a problem, though. As you may know, the mac version scenario editing tools are hopelessly glitchy, especially the unit and terrain graphic editing. Using the built-in editor causes the computer to store the wrong background color in the support files, so that the computer doesn't recognize the edges as transparent and turns the map into a mess when you reload the scn. I've tried editing it with a paint program, but somehow it doesn't convert correctly to a .PICT file so it still doesn't work.

I suppose I should have posted this in the 'scenario making' thread, but knowing you are a mac user I wondered how you created the unit files so well.

Any clues?

Who is going to do a PC version of this scenario?

I might do a divine scenario, one day!

:D

To make mac units.picts, what you need are the following;

A graphics editor that'll accept GIF's (GraphicsConverter)
Any Civ graphic converter (Civ 2 Scenario Converter)
Any units.gif file from any scenario

I open the units.gif with the graphics editor so as to keep the same color palette that's required for Civ 2. I copy and paste whatever units I want in the unit.gif and when I'm done. I save the units.gif (Duplicate the units.gif from the random scenario you downloaded beforehand incase you want to play that scenario as well) and drag the units.gif onto the Civ graphic converter application. It should produce a units.pict that'll have the correct color palette required.

Hope that helps. It took me quite a while to figure it out myself too. :)

I really did bounce this idea in my head a long time, I thought it would be cool, especially with how much of Revelations was forced in my head when I was a kid.... I'm glad to see you did it... good work!
