Going back in time

In the Conquests Napoleon scenario, all my military units were reverted to Middle-Aged units after I played for a long while. Is this just affecting the scenario or does it happen in other instances?

What middle age units?

Did you by chance loose some strategic resources?

how were you doing? did you lose alot of cities and/or resources? was it your existing units or ones you wanted to build/had on queue?
