golden age-when was it?

is there any indication of my tribe going into the golden age? and after the age has expired is there any notice of when it occurred?

Your Advisor should pop up and say, 'Our Great Civilization has entered a Golden Age' or some such in SP. In MP you need to just pay attention. It will occur when you win a battle against a non-barb enemy with your UU or when you build wonders that correspond with your civ traits.

You will also see Golden Age spelled out for it's duration in that small window at bottom right hand corner, beside where it tells you what tech you are researching. When it ends, your Domestic Advisor will pop up and let you know.
