I’m sure I’m not the first person to notice this or post something about it, but as much as I adore the Ages system in Civ VI Rise and Fall, (other than Dark Ages largely being ineffectual, and I wrote something about being forced to take a Dark age policy as a possible solution to make them more hallenging) Golden ages become far too common.
What I’ve noticed is that the normal Ages always get tougher to get, but the Golden Age additional threshold of 12 additional points is never increased beyond that. So, if I work super hard to gain 40 points of Era Score to save myself, it is still too relatively easy to chain Golden Ages, this making them relatively unspecial and helps humans become just overpowered because they can plan out how to chain these Ages, unlike the AI.
I propose the idea that Golden ages are subject to the same threshold-increase parameters (or similar) as Normal ages (though I was mostly thinking adding the flat +5 for each golden age, ignoring city count, but that would make Golden Ages even more special). What do you guys think of doing that to make the game a bit more of a challenge, and to actually make Golden Ages and heroic Ages special?
