Good mods for cleaning unit/city icons?

I am wondering if there is any good mods that make the following interface improvements:

Changes to the solid unit icons. Perhaps something that makes these icons transparent or shrink when zooming out? I don't like the way unit icons clutter the screen.

Same for the city name labels. Any mods that remove these, make these smaller, or otherwise less obtrusive?

Thanks.

I know of Nutty's Single Units Graphics mod (or the Raiser_Lowerer components for it) that actually fiddles quite a bit with these Icon/Flags.
Could mean that a few parameters fine-tuning to his code would allow anyone to adapt how the UI deals with such elements.
I'd suggest to try contacting him in the SUG thread.

All right. Thanks for the response.

Changing the size and/or transparency of all of the elements you mention is possible, but given the limited access we have to the graphics engine, there's no way to figure out how zoomed in we currently are. The only dynamic method I can think of is to have 2 settings, changing to one as soon as the user begins to zoom out, and another as soon as the user begins to zoom in. Not ideal, to say the least.

You could certainly find a happy medium for yourself where the elements are a bit smaller and a bit more transparent. If you want to get fancy, it's also possible to add an ingame menu and/or hotkeys to adjust them.
