My Very Good Friend and Our Great Member of Civfanatics, Ozymandias (Eric), died two days ago Saturday the 19th, of complications from a terminal illness.

He fought through seven years of very difficult times that continued to worsen.

Civfanatics was Very Important to Eric and he had many Great things he was working on that he could not finish.

He was a Great Man who possessed many wonderful attributes and was very accomplished in life.

The World is a lesser place without him and I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

What a tragedy to his friends, family, and the entire Civilization modding community. He was a true giant among Civ3 modders; in fact, his work on the Steampunk mod inspired many of my own forays into modding. We will all miss him. 😔

This is very sad news. :( Vuldacon, thank you very much for informing us and finding the right words for it.

Eric rest in peace. :c5faith:

Pour one out for a Real One.

Cheers,
Goldflash

Ozy was more than just a modder — he was a kind soul who truly loved Civilization III and this community. He’d regularly message me out of the blue just to check in, and even took time to talk with me over Zoom during one of the roughest patches of my life. That kindness meant more than I can say.

He had been working for a long time on a project called Terra Fantasia. I never knew the full scope of it, but I know he poured a lot of passion into it, and he made several unit requests over the years as part of that dream. I held onto those units, waiting for the day he’d finish his mod — but sadly, that day won’t come. Link to the units.

I’ve uploaded the units to the database in his honour. They’re a small piece of the legacy he left behind, and I hope they bring some joy or inspiration to others the way he brought it to me.

Rest easy, Ozy. You’ll be missed.

Rest in peace Ozy, you were a legend in Civ 3's community.

Eric was a kind and generous soul, and he worked tirelessly to help others here and maintain his vast archives. He was passionate about promoting the spirit of community here among Civ 3 players. He fought to remain positive and proactive, both with his illness and in keeping the forums lively. Vuldacon, thank you for letting us know. The forums will never be quite the same without him.
