I was under the impression that alphabet was REQUIRED to trade techs... how can they trade it to me? Not to mention i was trading techs before that... i think this bug lies in the fact that only one of the trade'ies needs the tech when BOTH should need it.

Yes however I just played a game where I had the alphabet and the AI proposed a tech trade and I don't recall being able to propose a tech trade when the AI had the alphabet and I did not.
