In general I don't think giving the AI a starting tech makes a big difference--I guess they work tiles a bit quicker. I went vanilla because I was planning on going for hindu, and I knew I would be annoyed if that caused me to get beat. Got beat anyway tho.jesusin said:

1798AD: Gandhi completes the UN. Luckily, he and his competitor Frederick are as unpopular as each other, so neither shouldn't have a chance of winning before I launch.

1814AD: 2nd GA.
1818AD: Li Po (Artist) born. Nothing really useful for him to do.
1828AD: Louis XIV declares war. Nice that somebody is trying to stop me, but it's too late.
1834AD: Win. The other's weren't too far behind with building their parts, but none had researched Fusion yet.
I was militarily poor throughout the entire game and I was very lucky that Gandhi never declared otherwise I would have been spanked. JC almost gave me a good run when he sneak attacked me in the 15th century, but I had some good luck with some 50/50 battles which I feel probably tipped the game in my favour.
I ended up 2nd to last in score behind JC. Oh and, Peter who died. The other civs were very mean to him as far as I could see.
