@hth: I don't think cities at distances 3, 3.5 and 4 is what is usually meant with RCP. The cities at 3 and 3.5 will constitute the first ring and the ones at 4 the second. You can use CivAssist II or RcpRings to help you locate places for cities.

4 is an increment above first, so second is at 7-7.5 from palace

The start location showed some desert tiles to the south which, with a river present, could be at least in part floodplains. Therefore, i decided to settle SE. It wasn't necessary at the end, but it was still a good spot.

The initial build order was warriorX3 -> settler -> worker -> granary. After that, a 4-turner was established and Beijing started producing settlers en masse. Given we were in a pangea, with a large amount of expansionist AS knowing Pottery from the beginning, i went directly for Alphabet at max, followed by Writing, Code of Laws and Republic. As expected, the AS researched Pottery, Map Making and (to my surprise) Philosophy as well.

The first city was built SEx4 of the capital, on a hill surrounded by floodplains. Other cities were built at RCP 4, and then i built a second ring at distance 7. The enormous food bonanza of such a location provided a steady influx of workers, which were badly needed just to keep up with population growth.

I made contact with Mongolia, England and America relatively early, but it took a while to get knowledge of all the AS, mainly because of the vastity of the pangea. The last AS, Babylon, was met in 1275 BC.

In the 1075 BC interturn i completed Republic, revolted immediately, fished 5 turns of anarchy and decided not to reroll. Next turni bought Mathematics with nothing more than a world map, and gave it away to all the remaining AS.

The 1000 BC mark was met with the following stats:

14 towns, 41 pop units;
an army of 12 workers, 21 warriors, 5 slaves;
1 granary, 3 barracks;
all contacts;
Missing Poly, Construction, Currency, Literature, Monarchy;
736 quids in the coffers (mass-upgrade is coming);

By 950 BC i had established my Republic and started researching again on Polytheism, followed by Construction, while Literature was provided by a hut. Also, i launched my first campaign against Mongolia, with swordsmen only.

In 610 BC i bought Currency from the Iroquois and entered the Middle Ages. I gifted to parity all the scientific AS and they picked each one a different tech :D Now, how to get all the bonus techs without going broke? The answer is, i kept Babylon in Despotism and isolated from everybody else. So i could buy Babylon's Engineering for Republic (monopoly for them), then Greece's Feudalism for Republic and Engineering (the latter being monopoly for them) and finally Germany's Monotheism for Feudalism and Engineering (known only by me and Greece for them) plus contact with Babylon (unknown to everybody) plus my world maps, plus a mere 60 quids.

By now, my immediate plans are to complete the takeover of Mongolia and research fast toward Chivalry. Then, i'll stop research and launch an all-out takeover campaign with raiders. The capital will stay in Beijing, while a leader (hopefully!) will rush the Forbidden Palace somewhere in English lands, in due time.

Here are some logs, as usual.
