GOTM 47 - Results & Congratulations

The theme for this game was an isolated start, with no early resources. Did this stop people from recording fast domination and conquest victories? No.

In first-place, EsatP managed to go one-better than his previous best-effort, winning a conquest victory in 460 AD and picking-up his first gold medal.

In second place, klarius picked up the silver and the fastest domination when he crossed the limit in 580 AD. In third place, MiniMe was one turn faster in conquest than EsatP, picking up bronze.

Yes! Another wonderful sheild!!! Now i have 2 in GOTM and 1 in COTM. At least i can win something... I also have a green ambulance. I only started G/COTM in COTM 13, France Diety.

That's four down, only three more to go. Let's see, Conquest , Domination and the Cow . I think I would have a fair chance on the Cow, if I got to play the game over 2 months... or maybe 3

@Redbad: Thanks a lot! Now me and Megalou have caught up with you towards that statue. My money is on Megalou in the race since he's shown that he's capable of grabbing a military award, but we shouldn't give up, now should we? But I guess for the future games I'll be in much the same seat you were in this one - doing a solid military win only to get beaten my half a millennium...

@civ_steve: Congratz yet again, only one more to go! You'll be the next eptathlete before you know it!

GotM 48 seems the perfect opportunity for grabbing the award, with that starting screenie I doubt any sane person would try 20k.

Well, it doesn't quite feel like 'winning' when I'm the only one at all in the 100k category, but it was a fun game, and I'll take any award I can get! What do I do with this shield though?

Congratulations to all! Especially Megalou who beat me by almost 400 years to the diplomatic award! (I take solace that I scored higher.. Unfortunately, there isn't a highest scoring victory award. )

Someday I hope to compete for an award again. But in my short time away, I've lost a lot and you all have gotten so good...

since i no longer remember what gotm 47 is about, i went back and check my last spoiler:

...launched very late in the game, ... but i don't remember the date now, after an intensive cotm17 playing yesterday...

well, this, and my last 20k award show how important it is to pick an unpopular way to win the game. (but i guess most people here enjoy the compeitition more and then nevermind).

Definitely not! I should point out that I have tried for fastest domination many times with no success! It could be a fun mini competition though.

Ouch again. I missed the Conquest award yet another time. And missed it by one lousy turn. Congrats to leopalas. With this month's deity cotm I dont think I will have the time to play gotm, unless of course it goes horribly wrong.

Congrats to all that played, to the medal winners and the award ( low and high) winners. @Redbad and Minime: I was really lucky this time I had the best RNG i can remember. I think if that was the case one of my warriors would have crushed a tank.I didnt give a damn to score and went all for date. I really wanted the award, and i thought this time it would be almost impossible not to get it. As it turned out to be i got it by only one turn One cant ever be sure about an award... Got the award, lost a medal... Thats the way it goes...

Thanks all! 32 gotm (15 fisrt game) and gold now...
3-4 last games I make bad endshpiel. I lost 10 turn without sence. I must attack without pauses. AI has in city only 2 units, I move more then 30...

Alright! A very pretty cow! Mallow trailed me by only 4%, so I'm glad to have done as much as I did to milk this one. Thanks for the sentiment Niklas, but Domination is soooooo competitive in GOTM, but at least I have no questions about what VC to pursue! (And considering I get the 'black terrain' when I play CIV, I suspect I'll be playing Civ 3 games for a while yet.)
