I hope that people found GOTM 50 to be an interesting game. By some fluke - we got exactly 50 entries! Not quite as many entries as for the Civ4 GOTM, but still fairly healthy.

The results saw klarius and kuningas renew their rivalry. Kuningas hasn't played for a few months, so it was good to see him return, and it was straight-back to the medal podium. He fell just-short of beating current #1-ranked player klarius, who was this months' victor. He claimed the gold with a conquest victory in 580 AD. kuningas also got a conquest victory - in fact, he was 2 turns faster. The slightly lower score (there was only 116 points in it!) means that he had to settle for the silver medal, although he did win the fastest conquest award as some compensation.

In third place, niklas won his first-ever medal! He has quite a healthy trophy cabinet when it comes to awards - he is only two short of the eptathlon - but he'd never won a medal before, so well-done to him. :goodjob: He was actually only one turn off picking-up another fastest domination award.

@klarius & kuningas: :worship: :worship:

@Megalou & civ_steve:  :goodjob:  :hatsoff:

Yihaaa! My first award! [party]

Now I can move on to CIV... - NO! :D

A special thanks to those who picked the challenge - a real success, see how many results so close to each other! Congrats civ_steve, this time you beat everyone (only 5 turns... )

Those 2 conquests at the top are really impressive - congrats to Kuningas for the earliest takeover, and to klarius for another gold medal, although once again his score is BLACK instead of RED :p

EDIT: well done Niklas!

RE-EDIT: well done Megalou!

Wow, it's really special to have accompliched the big 7. Sure, some awards I got cheap, like culture100K, but I have proved myself a fanatic and that's what this site is about, right?

Thanks for the well-wishes!

Congrats all, great results, and the winners, well ..., they almost feel like family ;)

especially ofcourse civ_steve and Megalou, getting yourself a statue on the showcase of fame. Well deserved you guys

And Niklas, I'm afraid you've outgrown me, now that you've snatched a medal

:woohoo: (yup, that's the smiley I was looking for!) The competition was very tough (what a group of rabid dominators!), but enough good luck happened to allow me to squeak by. I feel I can breathe again, now that I've finally got the globe and the statue!! :) Thanks for the congrats!

Great games by K and K, to show us what fast conquest is all about. :goodjob: to Niklas for his first medal! And special congratulations to Megalou on an awesome milk run and getting an Eptathlon as well!

(edit - I wanted to thank Ainwood, inc., for setting up this game with so many references to the recent GOTM's! I noticed Russia being the same start as the recent Russian GOTM, but didn't notice the other starting locations until it was mentioned in the Spoilers. A nice tribute to the GOTM heritage, along with the commentary on the Game information page. )

Well I thought i'd done great in that game, with a 1070 domination, guess I should have stuck to Ansar warriors and not Cavs aye. Still, my first Jason score over 9000 so im happy.

Nice challenge though Tricky

Congratulations to the winners.

EDIT: Strange...My result from GOTM 50 doesn't show up in the Global Ranking.

EDIT: No, wait, I didn't submit GOTM 50...Ainwood, your link goes to the result of GOTM 49...

Congratulations to Megalou and civ_steve for their Eptathlon Awards! :king:
No comment on the once more outstanding performances of klarius and kuningas. :worship: :worship:

The Dominator Challenge was awesome. I sure had fun watching your extra competition, and an extra Congrats to Niklas for getting his first medal out of it! :goodjob:

...and woohoo: my first award :)

Nobody went for Histographic!? Has that ever happened before? Except for a) running out of time and b) not winning, I might have had a shot at a trophy!

I think there were two histo attempts, neither of which went the distance, so I guess a game taken all the way to 2050ad would have beaten Megalou... but a large map with 60% water? Hardly surprising that there wasn't a lot of milking going on. I'm surprised that there was only one spaceship.

I did run out of time (as well as accidentally crossing over the limit). Playing to 2050 AD would have meant calling in sick!

Or getting civ installed at work? I always wondered if I could make a graphical mod which would reskin civ to look like Excel :mischief:
Well, I've got my QSC spreadsheet...

... which always lacks some informations you need for focussed planning. Including all those possible variants make it a little like playing chess... :crazyeye:
And if you do not even know if the water is salty or sweet - now that's killing you at work
