The GOTM 62 leaderboard was a battle of the conquests, with the top 5 scores going to this type of victory.

At the very top was Drazek. His date was comfortably ahead of the rest, which was reflected in the higher score. The race for second place was a bit closer, however Paul#42 edged-out Più Freddo for the silver.

Hi, sorry to ask a dumb question but here goes anyway: this is the second little shield I was awarded for a spaceship, although the other was in the COTM, but what does that represent? Is it "good job on getting such a low score", or "too bad your score is low here's something for you" ? Either way, thanks, I like getting whatever I can, I know I'll never get a medal, but I'm still going to play and it's fun to get something, so that is probably the point of the sheilds, but I was just wondering. Thanks again for having the GOTMs.

It means whatever you want it to mean, but take it as an encouragement to keep trying

There was some discussion a while back about deliberately trying to score low, as this could be as much of an achievement as a high score, particularly for some victory conditions. There is an awards page for low scores, and some have suggested trying for one of each shield, a bit like an upside-down Eptathlon.

Chamnix has acheived it for GOTM. 3 out 4 eptathlons. The man is a legend!

I'm confused - how did Chamnix get the cow? doesnt' he have fewer points than Saranac? or is that Firaxis points, and the cow goes on Jason points?

The Cow is awarded for highest Base score (Jason or Firaxis - makes no difference). Firaxis Base Score is the final Firaxis score minus the Firaxis victory bonus. The bonus is (2050 - finish_date) x difficulty_factor.

For this Regent game the difficulty_factor = 3. (Chieftain = 1 ... Sid = 8)

Chamnix:
Firaxis score = 3704 at 1824 AD.
Bonus = (2050 - 1824) x 3 = 678
Base score = 3704 - 678 = 3026

Saranac:
Firaxis score = 2464 at 1595 AD.
Bonus = (2050 - 1595) x 3 = 1365
Base score = 2464 - 1365 = 1099
