GOTM 81 - First Spoiler

jesusin, contender. Goal: Fastest cultural victory.

Free day at home, having not slept at all (the joys of fatherhood ;)) I was looking for something not too demanding to do when I found this dream of a builders game. Isolation and no barbs! That's a quick and really fun game, I have to play! I am enjoying it very much.

Settled in place to keep fish and gold. Worker and AH first, of course.
Capital built Worker-Half a warrior-WB-finish Warrior-Settler-Settler-Worker-Settler...
Research priorities were: AH-Pottery-Monoteism(religion)-CS sling-Theology(Religion)-Music.

01 Legendary city, with cottages and specially a lot of W in it.
02 settled West for more commerce (2 seafood, gold, FPs...).
03 Settled very close NW, just because the only Worker would have an easy time coming to help here from 02. A rule for settling I always follow is to send a Worker with the Settler.
04 Legendary city, seafood, copper, pigs, many cottages.
05 South for Gems
06 on Stone for Pyramids
07 Legendary GPFarm in the far North, with 2Corn and another food resource.
blah blah up to 12 cities, every city got 2 food resources at least.

1000BC key data: 5 cities+Settler, 19 pop, 8GPPpt, 4 Workers, food/production/commerce = 70/28/68. 86bpt at -0gpt. Only 5 cottages being used. 2 religions.

1AD key data: 12 cities, 6 Workers, 171bpt at -0gpt. 4 religions, 7 temples, 19 religion infections.

I spent all early game trying to whip all-importants Granary and Library in capital, but never found the time, as there was always a new great site for just another Settler.

I find hard to work many cottages before 1000BC, cause cities are small and they just have to work their resource tiles. Also, being in need of just another Settler or Worker, a mined hill looks more attractive then a grass cottage, even for a Financial civ.

CS sling 1280BC, Pyramids 750BC, lost Parthenon 650BC, first to Music. Losing Parthenon is the biggest mistake of my game. More about this on the final spoiler.

I could have used a couple more Workers, but new Settlers always seemed more important. After all city maintenance is all but non-existant at Prince level.

I am being extremely careful with GPP generation. As this is not BTS a "wrong" GP is almost useless since Golden Ages don't save anarchy turns. I have my GS for Academy, all I want from now on are GA.

I am going to have a lot of Workers for the end game, as I want all auxiliary cities nurturing artists specialists in the end, so I will have to farm all those cottages I've put everywhere. I normally don't do this, as I am too lazy and directly farm it all... but I think the idea in this game is much better, as I will have the best of both worlds: research in the beginning, specialists in the end.
