Isabella, the empire of Spain has been placed into your hands. What shall you do with your power? Will you feed the hungry? Bring wealth to the Poor? Or will you enslave your citizens, whipping their blood into gold and silver to fuel you Dynasty? The choice is yours, and choose wisely.

Personally, I would go for the blood into gold option

Difficulty: Monarch

Version: 1.96 for Vanilla and 1.56 for Warlords

Challenge: Highest Score from completing the Spanish UHV.

Deadline For Submissions: May 30th

To repeat the rules, do not discuss specifics of your game. Discussions on how to maximize your score, defeat the Aztecs and Incas, manage techs, etc. are more than welcome.

Defeating the Atzecs and the Incas was rather simple in 1.93... Now, with the "Conquerors" event it is a bit less harder, maybe... you only have to remember not to rush to America with your first avaliable caravel... The Atzecs will still have some gold and buy a LOT of mercenaries, as it happened in my game. So you'd better conquer them "traditional style" - Galleons loaded with Conquistadors and Catapults. Althrough, maybe my case was an unfortunate exception. :)

The hardest part of the UHV (the only UHV I ever tried to complete) was "No English or French cities in the Americas in 1700 AD". I couldn't get rid of Martinique... Longbows on a hill! Althrough, maybe, I could have done that, if I had given some of my units Amphibious promotion beforehand, and cooordinated my attack a bit better, I could take the island. But them, it wouldn't have matttered, 'cause England already managed to settle Falklands. So, I got only 2 of 3 victory conditions.

Really, perhaps you must settle Martinique and Falklands yourself to aviod such situations? :dunno:

Then they will use their settlers somewhere else. You must either have a quick special force ready to knock them down 1 turn before completion of UHV or kill them in mainland Europe beforehand! (The Armada might be another try, war&band of ships, but that may be hardest)

I think that the best way to make the UHV Condition is to crush France and Britain, this will take out 2 potentials enemies and will raise your score.

Then they will use their settlers somewhere else.

They will, but Martinique is very hard to take (Longbows on a hill, and only ammohibious attacks avaliable) and Stanely is located too far away (and you may not even know it is there). Cities on the American mainland are much more easy to take. Well, maybe crippling or taking Spain and France is the best option, like Edungeon said... only I am usually not that aggressive. :)

I think with a stack of Cannons everything is possible ( France can be conquered just with Conquistadores i believe ).

EDIT:

One question, how does this will work? Will Whitefire post a save from the first turn with Spain ( so everybody play the same game ) or we generate our saves?

Oh, then I can't use my Python file to delete that Zimbabwe thingy that breaks English AI in South Africa... :(

Oh well, downloading it now...

Hmm, I've been playing this game for a while and I've discovered something...very strange. Something with large game-changing (maybe game-ruining) potential. I don't want to say anything too specific, but if it isn't a bug in the original save file as I suspect, it's got to be one hell of a fluke on my computer's part.

If anyone else discovers it, they'll know what I mean.

Are you gonna compete Whitefire?

Possibly.

PM it to me.

I can't open the file. It gives around 200 errors

Double check that you have the most current version of the mod, then check that you downloaded the correct version of the mod, then make sure that you downloaded the correct version of the save. If it still gives you issues, I'll look into it. btw, are you trying the vanilla or Warlords save?

EDIT: If got a bunch of "could not load .xml file" errors, it's a 99% chance that the problem is on your end.

I downloaded the mod again, it works now. Don't know why...

But I've found something strange: I don't get gold when pillaging improvements and conquering cities. My economy was not already crippled enough...

I do get gold...

Now I have got a question:

I renamed Barbarians to Minor Nations, added Alt City Names mod (so that an unscripted city will not be named after real city). But all that stuff does not change the gameplay - it is the same as changing England to Great Britain.

However, I don't remember, does Zimbabwe spawn before of after Spanish spawn? If it does spawn after, that means that there will be no Zimbabwe on the map. :( I hope this does not qualify as a change that gives me an unfair advantage? For I removed Zim. to help the English is South Africa. And I do not plan to do anything with South Africa anyway.

Yes it changes things because England will colonize differently for you (i.e. not in North America) than everyone else.

I doubt Zimbabwe has anything to do with English colonial preferences...

I'm not sure how it helps, but helping England in South Africa will affect how it colonizes elsewhere, thus altering the playing field.

Anyway, the rules say no modcomps, and I mean it. You may restart your game without the modified assets, but your current one will not be accepted as valid.

That was a problem in Kael's fastmod, Rhye is fixing it.
