We seem to have some really good folks playing G/WOTM, and then there are those of us who aren't so good, but like to learn when we play. Any thoughts on how we might be able to ask questions midgame? Can we ask them in the spoiler threads if we've met the criteria?

It would be nice to post a screenshot, then ask a couple questions about the game, and even how best to proceed on some tasks. Bad idea? Good idea?

No - its the idea behind the GOTM. By all means ask in the spoilers - more "this is what I did, what should I have done?" questions.

How about the "what should I do" questions? :)

Yes, that's fine, but its better suited to posting that in the first spoiler, and discussing the results in the second.

Cool beans... Thanks again for GOTM, y'all do a great job. :goodjob:

This sounds like it needs a solution like the classic chess problem ... "white to move..." from a fixed position.

The civ 4 adaptation could be a given game scenario (map to download) and a series of questions like

What next to research if victory sought is (specify type)?

What to produce next in each city?

What tile improvments?

What wonders to consider?

Whip or not in this city?

Ideally, a very good player might set that up from their own completed game, as they might know what the best line of play was.

This would be a tutorial, perhaps taken from G/WOTM but in a thread distinct form the G/WOTM spoilers perhaps.

Any of our medal/award winners up for this master educator's role?

I think it's more enjoyable to raise my gaming level in my own efforts. I would better download savegames and autologs of those megaplayers and disbandle their game to the bone. By the way it helps very much. The mastership comes with expierience and number of the games you've played for result. Good luck!:king:

That was done at least once by Moonsinger a long while ago. Civ3 Classic often produced a slingshot event when you could exploit first contact with overseas civs to get everyone's gold and techs. Moonsinger set up a Civ3 Trading Training game scenario at such a turn, and invited everyone to play the current turn and maximise the outcome, and write up their findings. The effect of that exercise was to escalate a lot of mid-ranked players' understanding of how to trade effectively. Clearly this specific exercise is not relevant to Civ4 ... or even to C3C ... but it shows what is possible.
