GOTM10 *Spoiler* Talks

I had planned to finish my first Civ III game then finish the Civ II GOTM. Had trouble playing Civ III (not enough HD space :( ). Monkeyed around so much trying to make room I un-installed the game then couldn't re-install it!

So I went back to Civ II GOTM. I had left off around 1250 AD and finally realized it was bloodlust. So I took out my CIV III frustrations on the Civ II civs...

Only I'm not that good at war! I've been a republic throughout and after about 700 years of war there are many dead soldiers on all sides and many cites have been reduced to rubble (on both sides). We even managed to destroy the Oracle.

The Egyptians are gone. The Sioux have lost their capital and have been ousted from the western part of the continent. My next objective is the Celtic capital. Taking it will allow me to reduce my front lines a great deal. Then I can regroup and build my cities up a bit.

After that I will look for those darn Babylonians who keep sending armies against me! I did obtain a cruiser from buying a Sioux city and took great pleasure in sinking a Persian ship. I don't know where they live but the cowards periodically show up and attack my cities with their ships!

Celts 3400BC
Egyptians 3350BC
Sioux 2650BC
Vikings 2050BC
Babylonians 1150BC
Persians 1300AD

my earliest ever finish

Ferenginar:)

Smash - if you have Statue, revolt, attack, reselect demo, next turn when everybody happy again, finish them off.

Finished my first Civ III game this am so I spent some time on my CIV II GOTM. Played about 60 years today and it continues to be a bloody affair. I had to accept some humiliating cease fires (by giving away techs first) in order to buy time to build my defenses. The darn Celts kept sneak attacking and taking one of my cities and then forcing a UN brokered cease fire.

I bit the bullet on that several times while researching fundy. Once I got that I started building barracks and mech. inf. Was able to retake my cities from the Celts and in so doing got the tech for making howitzers. Built a few and took the city with the UN!:) A few years later (finally) took the Celtic capital - and split their empire! Yes, the yellow civ is now back. The Spanish own many cities with Viking names.:goodjob:

Well, I will spend the rest of my time building howitzers and taking what I can.

Then I will try the Civ III GOTM!:D

How bloody has it been you ask?

I have lost 335 units in this game. The top five:

74 riflemen
46 cavalry
32 partisans
31 cannon
24 musketeers

I've lost track of how many times these cities have changed hands.:crazyeyes

I played a little yesterday and right now I'm in 1555 AD (around!) and I'm in a Democracy Administration.

Each scientific discovery is done in 4 or 5 turns!
I need to discover 3 or 4 more technology in order to switch to the Industrial Age.

Finaly I conquered the 3 remaining cities in the first continent.

Now, I'm pacific. No more war! I'm in peace with all the other civs. I make la lot of trade (Around +20 pieces of gold games each turn in my tresory because of trade!). I have 4 sources of iron, 4 or germs... So everything is Ok.

I have build Temple, Library and Marketplace in each cities.
Marketplace are powerfull when you have a lot a luxuries resources (6 of the 8 existing luxuries). Its gave you money and happy faces...

My culture is improving as well.

I will have 3 choices to finish the game:
- cultural (I never done yet)
- Space ship (Well , like In Civ 2)
- Diplomacy (Like in SMAC)

So, I will see.

LeSphinx

I can't get my damn economy straight. That's why I can't finish the Babs: I need to build Banks and Stock Exchanges! Lucky for me Adam Smith's will be ready soon. Then the Bab-bashing can start. :D

Finished today, hope to start Civ III GOTM tomorrow!

This was my first bloodlust game and I'm not all that good at war. I had killed off the Egyptians some time before 1900AD then found tough going against the Celts. Once I got fundamentalism I did get the conquest machine geared up. Eliminated the Babylonians in 1990AD and the Celts two years later. Wiped out the Celtic-offshoot Spaniards in 1995. Finished off the Sioux in 2000AD. Managed to take one Persian city but time was too short to invade all their islands. Switched to democracy and WLTP days to bump up my score a bit. (Most of my score comes from those fat Babylonian cities I absorbed!)

It was a bloody game though. 4 or 5 wonders were destroyed. The lighthouse, oracle, hanging gardens among others. I ended up with all the other wonders except Cure for Cancer. Captured most of them! I did build manhattan project but waited till the last minute. Didn't want those Persians nuking my juicy Babylonian cities!:D

Well, in five GOTMs I've been killed twice, retired twice and landed the SS once.:)

Hi,
after submitting my GOTM10 on Sunday this will be my first post to this forum.
I know it´s a little late but I want to share my game anyway, because I haven´t found the time to post something for the previous 2 GOTMs.
The map in this game was just fantastic.:goodjob:
So much grassland to expand early and quickly and so many huts to explore. In the beginning I just kept pumping out settlers and explored the world with several NONE units.
The Celts in the south were foolish enough to sneak attack my chariot in a forest with their only defender, so I quickly captured their only city. I made peace with the Egyptians and found a great site for a SSC near their capital.
The Vikings to the east hadn´t made another city yet, so I stationed some troop on the hills near Trondheim waiting for reinforcements. After a cease fire treaty ran out I destroyed them without damaging my reputation. The Babylonians south were trying to expand into my parts of the continent, which were already settled, so my troops began capturing their cities. A little later the Babylon empire was no more and my army began the long way back to Egypt. Meanwhile my cities covered most of the inhabitable parts of the continent, I had several nice, prospering science cities and my triremes began exploring the sea.
Egypt was constantly at war with the Sioux but only had their capital, which fell to my advancing army. The Persian cities on an island I discovered were bought or captured. They seemed to have had some trouble with babarians. Some years AD the Sioux were contained in 2 cities without access to the sea.
Now I had the possibility to eliminate them early or to start farming the world. After a relatively quick conquest in the last GOTM I chose the latter. With the Sioux being the purple civ and a really great SSC (2x wine, 4 or 5x river) my discovery rate was soon up to 1 per turn, later even more. I stayed in WLTP growth as long as my GOTM score was increasing and then I destroyed the Sioux with howitzers and stealth planes (lost 2 :( ).
After utilizing all the different strategies (caravans, gifting purple civ, SSC, etc.) I´ve read about, I finished the game in 1500AD with a great score, I think.
Maybe I´ll even beat my 6th place of the last GOTM.

Well, started off well, founding Carthage and getting some Archers early on. The first division of Carthaginian Archers went exploring, found two more divisions of Archers - by 3400BC my Military was looking fairly healthy. Sioux destroyed the Egyptians early on, I moved in and used their (nicely irrigated) city sites. I've been badgering along with my usual play style of massive infrastructure development, ignore the war - I have been pleasently surprised that the AI civs are more friendly in Civ II original than Civ II Test of Time (which I normally play). However, not that friendly - I'm up to 1500 AD and have had sneak attacks from the Celts and the Vikings, with others not looking very friendly now. I've just found, reading this forum, that the game is bloodlust :crazyeyes (oops!) So when I go home tonight, I'd better get into 'massive offensive' mode as I was thinking 'ah, you may attack me now, but see who wins the space race!' DOH! This is my first attempt at Game of the Month (I only found this site a few days ago), but I'm enjoying the game more than I have in a while! It's nice to see the wonder movies and high council again, after playing Test of Time for so long.:D

I'm about 1800AD and just for the heck of it decided to read the spoiler thread. I didn't realize it was a bloodlust game. I just finished off the Vikes (to get MP & Lighthouse Wonders) but was planning on settling in for a spaceship win. I guess it's time to switch to bombers & tanks and clean up the rest of the AI's.

:D
