Gil Favor's Sidekick
Please join us in congratulating all the valiant players who made the effort to play and submit Gotm14.
A total of 72 games submissions were received for this game and truly this was the most difficult game of Civ3 played during the Games of the Month since Civ3 was released to the public. Of those 72 submissions only 12 games were victories.
Results of Gotm14-Babylon
This game serves as a foundation to make it very clear that playing the game of the month gives you a basis of common experience with other players that allows everyone to get more out of the game than if they just sat alone at their computer and played the game. Even if the current Gotm is above or below the skill level that you might set for yourself, there are things in the game that you can learn from as well as enjoy IF you have shared the experience with other people.
Special Notes to the Game Results Tables:
You will note that the game results page now serves as a master index to allow you to download the save game files of any individual game for further review. We hope that you will take advantage of this feature to further compare your efforts to some of the other submitted games.
The results table also includes a listing of the average game turns that were played by each of the top 21 players during each time that they loaded and played the game. This information is provided to help set some general perspective for the games but we must be careful not to interpret this information in a literal or absolute sense. During certain periods of the game it is easily possible to play for most players to play 40 to 80 turns per session. Most game includes time periods of complex movement decisions and micromanagement that may combine with the players time schedules to only result in a few turns per playing session. These turns played averages are only used as screening tools to identify games that vary significantly from the average player behavior at that game skill level.
The normalized or global ranking scores for this game have not been included in the results table, but will be updated as we proceed through some public discussion in the next two weeks. We want to begin the transition to the new players Global Ranking system that reward players for performance in the Gotm and the Qsc. The old system used a score that was normalized to the game average while the new system normalizes the score to a maximum point value for the event.
As always, if you have any questions or think you have found an discrepencies in the results page please feel free to contact me by email at gotm@civfanatics.net or with the Private Message functions of the forums. - cracker
