Where and how can I submit? because I have not submitted actually yet. I just think its fun to share my game.

What I meant above was I have finished the game 2-3 weeks after the release of the .save download. :D

I submitted already. Its just funny how the tab in my browser says C-iv GOTM Submission instead of C-III

(I didnt know that culture is half during war times. XD)

Culture is not halved during war times?! What do you mean?
I know that culture is halved during mobilization, and that a city does not produce culture under Fascism, if more than 50% of its citizens are "foreign".

But Fascism does not exist in PtW, and mobilization has been de-activated in the GOTM scenario! So I'm really not sure what you mean?!

(BTW: does anybody still remember, why mobilization has been turned off in GOTM?)

i think Mobilization is depicted as "War-Time" in F1 or somewhere.

Win at 1740ad
jason/firaxis 8603/7058

Some facts:

  • I count only 2 flood plain tiles on entire map.
  • Stayed in despotism until 630ad. :eek2:
  • Greeks had sucked too much of my blood...
  1. two of my 2nd ring cities had flipped to them in BC with <2% chances :dubious:
  2. I have forced to leave them behind and deal with Carthage first.
  3. then finally I come for them, their hoplites (with unholy collaboration with GrWall) putted up a terrific bloodbath for english meds.
  4. after reducing to OCS their former cities continued to flip.
  • Second GOTM in row Iroques have build Pyramids in Salamanca and I capture it quite soon. :)
  • Got a incredibely lucky leaders generation. First come on second elite attack, second comes <10 attacks later. Total leaders amount is 7. I feel like in next game I will vainly pray for leaders. :(
  • Make contact with another continent in 790ad.
  • Have Golden Age one hundred year later by completing of Magellan Exp, which actually was a first wonder I "build".

I will post my detailed log a bit later.

I didn't get this finished in time and the result was culture of over 125,000 as time expired. I am sure this is due to the fact that the Persians must have had over half my culture value, though neither the game nor CivAssist II has any way of showing me that.

The plan as always was to expand rapidly, take out the neighbors and expand culture. the Greeks were gone fairly quickly and then the Iroquois. I left the Carthaginians for later in the game to give me time to cash rush as many culture buildings as possible. They also became a crucial trading partner after the Persians crippled or wiped out all the other civs fairly early.

At the end of the game the Carthaginians helped provide an ally against the Persians who were truly monstrous. The only thing keeping them at bay was their need for amphibious assault and my navy's valiant efforts to sink every ship before it could land troops. I kept my military in check as I was still trying to rush culture in every city.

It wasn't until I got to 100K before I realized the Persians must have 50% of my culture and thus I had to hope I could exceed the limit before time ran out. I decided I would build mass ICBMs and Marines and hopefully destroy enough Persian cities to widen the gap.I launched about 60 ICBMs targeting just about every Persian city. I managed to capture and raze a couple with Marines and kept one for a base of operations. Unfortunately, the Persians also had a about a dozen ICBMs and retaliated in kind. In what I thought was somewhat unusual for the AI they nuked their city i captured on the next turn, destroying about half my forces, then again after I captured it again they launched another nuke, but this time there were only a couple of troops to hold it. I launched my remaining 20 ICBMs making sure to devastate any remaining Persian improvements and took 3 cities for peace with Persia.

It seems the nuclear war was too much for one of my Carthaginian border cities as it flipped to the Carthaginians despite having been maxed out with culture for a long time (pacifist ingrates!) Alas, the plan was not enough to speed up the culture gap and time expired. A VERY long game for naught.

There were two key factors that made culture very difficult in my game.

Almost every wonder before the Industrial age was taken by the Persians and other civs on their continent. The ancient age wonders went especially fast. When I did manage to meet them, they were also well ahead in tech. I assume this spirit of cooperation ended when the Persians decided to "merge" with their neighbors.

No Leaders until almost 2000AD. Despite dozens and dozens of Elite wins from the ancient age through to the Modern Age I did not get any ML to speed up wonders. ML are a huge advantage and boost in any culture game. Perhaps turning them off where there is a required culture victory win might be considered.

ML are a huge advantage and boost in any culture game.
For 20k game without question, but for 100k? And PtW had no wonders with cultural mass-effect.

Unlike you for this GOTM, I'm was a lucky bastard with leaders (got seven), but except of rushing FP & MgE (which give me a GA, but I can alternatively get it from UU a bit later) all of them does nothing for culture.

IMO Pyramids is only one really important wonder for 100k, because it has direct impact on ICS tempo and population score.

does anybody still remember, why mobilization has been turned off in GOTM?

This comment rings a bell somewhere far back in my mind. That must have been in Ainwood's days. I don't remember what it was, but I think it was a bad exploit. Maybe using Conscription as a means to turn population into shields, useful for 100k?

A quick look in our reconstituted GOTM.bix reveals that the civilization advance of Nationalism Enables Conscription of Units as well as Mobilization Levels. We forgot about that. It was not in the list.

Shall we untick these two items?

If I remember correctly, Conscription was still possible in a GOTM, only Mobilization was not. So I guess we should deactivate Mobilization for the next GOTM to make then comparable to older ones...

PS: I found the comment by civ_steve from 2007 regarding Mobilization in PtW/Vanilla:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6142747&postcount=15
So it does not seem to concern Conscription.

I just checked my pre-winning save: both were possible in this GOTM.

But I don't even imagine how these things can be an exploit in 100k. Please explain?

Sorry to get people confused.

But here it is. I did not do a war-time or war-moblization during my game. I only waged a normal war. Its just after I finished the game I saw in the net that during war-times (or i dont know cause i dont play PtW, only c3c) that I get 50% culture only. After I have read that, I am now thinking that I get a 50% culture because I am always not at peace with the other nations.

No, that's definitely wrong. Like templar said, the people who wrote this probably mean the "mobilization" feature, when they say "war-time". So don't worry, you get full culture when at war!
