Been playing Civ 3 for about a month and just thought I`d give GOTM a go. Downloaded the pack, and add-on and then the save file for GOTM22 (1.29 not PTW) and loaded up the game and everything seems fine apart from a few things :-

1.When I look in the Civilopedia some of the pictures are "blued out" with no graphic there and no description, examples are cataphract, european sworsdmen, spanish missionary ?
2. Treasure, never come across this before, and when I look in Civlilopedia its got a picture of a worker and a workers description. Can someone tell me what treasure is for ?
3. Of the two workers I was given at the start, one of them would not build a road with CNTRL-R, I had to manually take him to the square. However the other one was OK.
4. Is it OK to change the preferences. I wondered why one of my warriors had suddenyl disappeared until I noticed the animate fights was off ?

Unfortunately I am quite a bit into the GOTM now.

Are my downloads corrupt, or is this normal. Should I do a re-install now, or after my GOTM submission.

I think these are all normal behaviour. The Civilpoedia has some information about the custom add-ons in GOTMs, but there are quite a few holes and that's what you are seeing. The GOTM web site has various gems of wisdom about the new units and resources, if you can find them, and this forum also has discussion threads that cover the finer points of their unique attributes.

Treasure's one that comes up regularly. Look in the instructions for the game and you'll find a link, and there's a thread somewhere here discussing the Conquest-class bonuses. It's probably slipped onto page 2 or 3 by now.

The workers you start with are called eqWorkers and the only published difference from ones you build yourself is that you, and more importantly the AI, are not supposed to be able to sell them. I s'pose it's possible that they have also had that key command disabled, maybe as a side effect of the customisation.

Yes, I found it alarming to discover that some animations, ones I normally rely on and never tried switching off, were switched off in this download, but you can switch them back on yourself. Having learnt the lesson (so many lessons!) this GOTM I'll watch for it in future games. It's just part of the process of further education that you embark on when you join Cracker's Academy for CivInsomniacs :)

While I am asking questions, I have read that going back to playing normal Civ 3 may not be possible now that I have loaded on the graphics packs. Please could someone either tell me or point me to the forum on how to switch between the two ?

I am playing Civ 3 1.29 and not PTW.

You should just need to swap the resources.pcx and resources_shadows.pcx files between the appropriate folders in art/resources storage. The readme that comes with the download should give details.
