" Alexander the not so great looks around for some divine intervention" - Is there anyone out there? (Echo) there..ere...ere..
A voice in Alexander's head explains: Elvis was last seen in the marketplace buying Feta cheese, then he danced around, moving obcenely at the rhytm of a goatherders flute.

Well, let's hope Nick is awake then and ready to continue :)

Ok nick seems missing in action, his last post was on the 19th

Great turns Elvis. :) That Feta cheese did work wonders.

Say how many knights do we have ready?

Am I up now? If so, I can probably play this tomorrow.

So is our goal to attack Persia? If it is, I think I notice a small hole in your military plan elvis. What are we gonna do about all those units in our territory? :p

Before I play I want the group opinion on this: Should we take Persia or Aztecs first?

i haven't looked at the save yet but leave a force to pick off the units in our territory.

Oh boy I get the fun task of crushing an annoying neighbor civ into oblivion. Time to break out the :hammer:

PT: Yikes! Persia has a total of 19 immortals, 1 knight, 1 archer and 1 warrior in our lands. I decide that these are going to have to be delt with before any major offensive movement occurs.

IT: Beijing builds the sistine chapel, perisans move even more troops into the hills

1: Athens: Settler-Hoplite
Thermopylae Hoplite-Hoplite
Corinth: Hoplite-Hoplite
Thessalonica Hoplite-Hoplite

Wow those defenses at troy are weak! 3 warriors against the whole persian army? I send some hoplites and a majority of the knights to the west, leaving some behind to reinforce our skeleton defenses on the eastern border. I think all hopes of the persians eliminating themselves on the Celts are in vain, as they will be attacking cities the celts have no connection to except by boat. I think we should smash them while they're vulnerable in our territory. I begin to force them off the hills areas with hoplites as the knights move into position.

IT: GLib gives us education :(

2:Delphi: Hoplite-Hoplite
Knossos: Hoplite-Aqueduct
Mycanae-Hoplite-Hoplite

The MDI will arrive in 3 turns. When they get there Persia's army will be crushed into the ground.

3:Athens: Hoplite-Hoplite
Thermopylae: Hoplite-Hoplite
Corinth: Hoplite-Hoplite
Pharsalos: Hoplite-Hoplite
Argos Hoplite-Library

-Workers smartly move out of the area

4:
WAR IS DECLARED as Persia refuses our polite request to withdraw their noisy and impolite troops from our lands ;)
--Initial Casualties--
Persia: 15 Immortals, 1 Warrior, 1 Archer
Greece: 3 MDI, 2 Knights

IT: The surviving persian attack force desperately regroups in the jungle

Our Brave warrior at troy dies valiantly defending against an attacking immortal. Reinforcements will arrive next turn. A hoplite fends off an immortal, triggering a golden age for us. In despotism...oh well.
--Casulaties--
Persia: 2 Immortals
Greece: 1 Warrior

5:Athens: Hoplite-Hoplite
Sparta:Hoplite-Settler
Thermopylae: Hoplite-Horseman
Corinth: Hoplite-Horseman
Delphi: Hoplite-Hoplite
Mycanae: Hoplite-Temple
Rhodes: Hoplite-Temple

The MDI Stack finishes mopping up the scattered persian attack force, leaving behind only a single confused warrior who wonders where all his buddies went

A MDI hunts down the lone spear/settler pair wandering through our territory and recruits 2 more slaves.

The Knights take the Persian City of Ghulman along with 2 workers, killing the 2 spearmen and longbow who defended it without losses.

--Casulaties--
Persia: 6 Immortals, 2 Knights, 2 Spearmen, 1 Settler, 1 Longbowman, 2 Workers
Greece: 2 MDI

I decide at this point to phase out hoplite production in favor of horsemen for a new run of knights

IT: Persian knight attacks and kills one of our knights near Troy, the only engagement in his round of movement.

6:Athens: Hoplite-Horseman
Thessalonica: Hoplite-Horseman

Knights on the eastern border take Borazjan and Zohak.

--Casulaties--
Persia: 4 Pikemen, 1 Worker, 1 Warrior, 1 Knight
Greece: 3 Knights

IT: Immortal kills a hoplite en route to troy, pike pillages the saltpeter near Zohak and saves our troops the trouble :)

7:Athens: Horesman-Horseman
Delphi: Hoplite-Horseman
Heraklea: Hoplite-Library

Knights Regroup at Troy for another assult on persian cities.
Horsemen produced are sent to heraklea to be upgraded later

--Casulaties--
Persia: 1 Immortal
Greece: 0

IT: Not even a whimper from the Persians

8:Athens: Horesman-Horesman
Thermopylae: Horesman-Horseman
Pharsalos Hoplite-Library
Argos: Library-Horseman

Knights take Jinjan without losses. 2 groups advance towards Dariush Kabir and Istakhr. Yikes, they're both guarded by muskets

Miletos founded, set to barracks

--Casulaties--
Persia: 1 Immortal, 1 Pikeman, 1 Spearman
Greece: 0

IT: Haha, the celts attack the muskets in dariush kabir, luckily neither of them promote.

Zohak is attacked by a knight but the hoplite wins. the Knights approaching dariush kabir are assulted by an immortal, who kills one of them

9: Sparta: Settler-Barracks
Corinth: Horseman-Horseman
Delphi: Horseman-Horseman
Marathon: Barracks-Hoplite

Knights take Dariush Kabir and Istakhr

--Casulaties--
Persia: 2 Immortals, 4 Muskets, 1 Pikeman
Greece: 1 Knight

IT: Hoplite repels an immortal promoting to elite. Pikes pillage some road near Dariush Kabir

10:Athens: Horseman-Horseman
Eretria: Barracks-Temple

Knights in Zohak clear some stray pikes coming in to pillage

--Casulaties--
Persia: 2 Pikeman
Greece: 0

All in all a very fun turn to play :) The Save

Here's an overview of my military campaign so far, as well as a possible plan for attacking the rest of the Persian Empire:
persiaplan.JPG

Good job, after this war we will need to revolt to monarchy or republic.

We should have switched government way before this, but who cares, we are winning and going strong :)

I say crush the persians completely, they are backstabbers and can never be trusted after this.

If we get a leader, FP in former persian lands would be nice. If we decide on that, either Taurus or Pasgarde to help corruption.

Thoughts?

Is it my turn? I hold on until tomorrow for your ideas :)

:goodjob: Nice guys!

Agreed gozpel, crush 'em completely. :)

Tarsus definatly for the fP

First the Save

Sorry for the delay.

Pre-turn: Everything looks good.

650 AD - IT - A couple of persian knights attack, but we defend well.

A few horses are built.

Not much to do but sending troops towards the front.
I send a bunch of knights to attack Samaria.

660 AD - IT - We lose a hoplite and kill an immortal during random attacks.

We take Samaria guarded by 2 musketmen, 2 catapults, 1 immortal and a knight and only lose 2 knights. We now have iron again and I upgrade 11 horses to knights.
Our footsoldiers will reach Samaria next turn.

A few civs knows Printing Press, I let our research stay on it for the remaining turns.

670 AD - IT - We lose a knight and make another retreat.
Knossos aquaduct - hoplite.

A couple of horses built, cities will now build knights.

We take Ergili without losses, killing 2 muskets and an immortal.
We also kill a redlined knight with an elite, but no luck.
I will rest all knights in Ergili, since the town have barracks.

We connect saltpeter.

680 AD -

Nothing really

690 AD -

Sparta barracks - courthouse.
Halicarnassus temple? - barracks

We kill an immortal and a knight.

I send 11 knights to the saltpeter near Hamadan ( this is their only resource) and 16 footsoldiers move towards the same town.
I upgrade a few hoplites to musketmen.

700 AD - Persia kills one of our knights.

Pharsalos library - aqueduct

I pillage the saltpeter.
We have 26 troops next to Hamadan and 24 knights next to Tyre for the next turn.

710 AD - IT - We lose a knight and kill two persians in random attacks.

Atremisium founded - library

We attack Hamadan, take it losing one knight and killing 2 muskets.
We attack Tyre, we take it losing 3 knights, killing 3 muskets and an immortal.

We continue our relentless attack and take Sidon, no losses and kill a musket, a pike and a knight. Kill off a couple of irritating knights in our new territory, lose a MI.

Move a stack of knights to attack Tarsus next turn.

We could take a few more cities, then demand a couple towns and chemistry for peace. They are already willing to give up at least 2 cities, some more attacking will make them give up the tech as well.

We really need to get out of despotism, this is why I consider peace. Persia have no iron left and we have big enough force to control them :) But not right yet.

720 AD - IT - We lose a knight and kill one. Our galley sinks, I left it carelessly on a sea tile.
I change some cities to infrastructure.

The attack on Tarsus starts. We kill 2 muskets, a pike and 2 knights and lose one knight. Tried to fish for a leader but no luck.

I move on to Sardis. Lose one knight and kill 3 musketmen and the city is ours.

730 AD - Try again to get that leader, but no luck

740 AD - Not much. I had a chat with Xerxes, he's willing to give us Chemistry and the towns Dakyanos and Bampur.. I think we should take it and switch government ASAP.

The Gozpelodium rule gave our great empire an addition of 7 cities.
We have 3 turns left to PP.
We have 902 gold and are making 120 gpt.

The next player can choose to continue the war or take peace as above. 20 turns of building infrastructure won't hurt and then we kill off Persia. I new government will help us a lot.
I didn't want to switch during GA and I think we still have a couple of turns of that. :)

:goodjob: Nice gozpel! I'll get around to the turns tomorrow after lacrosse.

:o Sorry guys. Forgot I was up.. I thought I did my turns. oops

Long lax game? Lets just say I'll be on varsity. :)

First the save

Pre-turns: Poor X –man.

IBT: Nothing much.

Turn 1 : X-man doesn’t seem to want to give us chemistry and astronomy for peace. I better beat on him some more then. I wake up our knights and MDI to go to war.

IBT: Persian longbow kills a knight.
Sparta courthouse>market
Thermopylae library>university
Knossos knight>library

Turn 3 : Psargadae taken, no losses. A few longbows are killed too.

IBT: Printing>banking
Athens university>cathedral
Corinth library>university
Mycanae knight>aqueduct

Turn 4 : We capture Arbela and the great lighthouse. We lose one knight. I attack Persepolis and kill muskets, too many though. Loads of worker movement, we should take Persepolis next turn

IBT: Two Persian knights attack and win.

Turn 5 : We take Persepolis, we lose two knights. We are now close to a deal on chemistry and astronomy. Not close enough I’m afraid. More worker movement.

IBT: Golden age ends.

Turn 6 : We capture Gordium, losing one knight. Now he still won’t take peace for all of his tech. Naughty naughty.

IBT: Nothing

Turn 7 : We take Susa with MDI, losing two. Take peace with X-man. He gives us astronomy, chemistry, and music theory, we give him 400 gold. He is stuck with two tundra bound cities now. We revolt too.

IBT: A few revolts around our huge cities.

Turn 8 : Workers, fortifying knights in Persian cities hoping against a flip.

IBT: Revolts

Turn 9 : Hire some happy faces.

IBT: Revolts

Turn 10 : Hire some more happy faces, workers.

My turns kind of sucked. I took maybe 5 cities, and revolted.
We are caught up in tech pretty much, down banking to a few civs.

Your turns didn't suck at all. you got what you wanted and we can eradicate them after 20 turns. So good work :)

And a new government will be a great help.

i agree, monarchy is good and aztecs has to be next target.

conehead is up.
