SAVE

It looks like we are pretty isolated. Are warriors spotted 2 borders but no contact.

My thought.

Athens will be much better at building wonders than producing settlers. Lets start a pre-build after that settler is finished.

Athens has the ability to produce at least 20 shields at size 12. :)

Thats the GL in 20

I don't think that we will need TGL, We should be able to keep up tech pace, it's just monarch. Maybe we should try for the Pyrimands, our starting landmass seems pretty big and the Pyrimands would help us more.

We don't need it, but it would sure be helpful... I say we try for pyramids and if we don't get it then GL.

Have room for one more? :)

I'm very comfortable with monarch. I almost always win and always survive. I've always wanted to try the Greeks but have never really done it, so this would be the perfect opportunity.

I came here to see how the team did so far, and to grab the game :)

But another player is welcome, and since I'm last on the list it's your turn Nick.

Only one rule to remember really, no maptrading ever.
And read through the thread to see what people decided so far. Enjoy and welcome :)

Sure come on in, and also you have to name all of our Miltary Units.

Now gozpel, I've got a question, is ROP still going to be legal? Because all we need is an ROP and we can walk a warrior around in their territory and learn where all their stuff is.

Preturns: hmm, a diplo check reveals that we have contact with the aztecs. I trade them alphabet, masonry +63 gold for the Wheel and Mysticism. 2 horses in sight, one directly east of athens about 4 tiles, the other to the west on the edge of the penninsula amnimal was exploring. Everything else looks good.

1 - Exploring
2 - Exploring
3 -
Athens: settler - hoplite
I look around to see if I can spot a nice location for our third city, and settle for an area to the east of athens near the horses. It can borrow one of the mined bg tiles from athens and on expansion will claim the horses
The celts have founded a visible city just across from us so that it's visible, amnimal turns around to go make contact.
4 - Alex pops a hut, it's a free warrior. Our exploring reveals that the aztecs have dyes
5 - Thermopylae founded, set to hoplite for now
Lysander reveals that we have dyes to the east of sparta, and more horses :)
6 - Exploring
IT - Bart spots a barbarian emerging from FOW
7 - Bart moves onto a hill and finds another one
MM Sparta to get settler in 2 fewer turns
Lysander pops a hut but it's empty
8 -Bart moves south to see yet another warrior! They're all fortified, but I suspect they're going to attack this round.
IT - sure enough, one of them attacks and we win -1hp
9 - bart fortifies.
Contact the Celts, we're up on them Masonry, Pottery, Alphabet and Mysticism! They don't have any gold so I don't sell anything to them
10 - Athens: hoplite - settler, I was considering a granary but I think sparta is going to be our main settler factory. We need to get some production up in it though.
Bart sees yet another warrior. Remember this, if you send settlers to the south make sure they're protected!
A settler will be built in sparta next turn, I suggest it be sent to one of the red dots.

The Save

Also a note: We desperately need more workers, we only have 2! I suggest that athens be swaped to one and that Thermopylae build one after it finishes its hoplite,

Good turns.

Remember, if we are setting up sparta to be a settler factory we need to make sure we don't gank shields from it due to waste. I think our cities should be located on fertile lands on a greater distance from sparta. I think. ;)

If we are going to use athens to snag a wonder we neeeed a granary in it.

Good turns.

Those 2 dots won't take all tiles, we miss out on 3 tiles if we don't backfill with a "scrap-city" later. The cow city is alright and I think I will veto the other spot for my first suggestion. Right north of the little lake, so we'll need temple to get that spot going. But that placement will allow us to build a coastal city NW without overlap. "MY" spot is also better for settlers, since Sparta will have a slight corruption problem to be really good for settler, I think Sparta should build the occational settler and lots of workers.
What do you think guys?

We will need granary for the Great Library. Since this is Affirmative's addiction to always build GLIB, we just have to comply ;)

Good point about ROP, I don't think it's cheesy as long we don't do any ROP abuse. Opinions?

I got it.
