Civ always worked for me until yesterday, then I updated two things on my PC:
1) updated the drivers of my video card from catalyst 8.4 to 10.6
2) installed the latest service pack (had SP2, installed SP3)
and as a result Civ (BTS 3.19) doesnt work anymore (see screenshot). I can hear the music in the background and I can navigate the menus, but I cant see anything except what you see in the screenshot.

Things I tried (and didnt work):
- un-install the new ATI drivers and install the old ones
- change the resolution to 1024x768 from the civ4.ini file
- uninstalled the game and re-installed from scratch

My PC:
- Windows XP SP3
- ATI Radeon HD 4800
- Catalyst 10.6 (it was working with old catalyst 8.4 but now it doesnt work regardless of drivers version)
- DirectX 9c
- 3GB ram
- Intel core2 duo e8400 3ghz

Any ideas ? :(

I have the same issues. Trying to update directx as well, but not optimistic. Anyone know how to fix? It would be much appreciated.

Fixed:
- uninstall Catalyst 10.6
- reboot
- install Catalyst 9.12

Yeah, I have an nvidia GeForce 8800 card, so catalyst isn't the problem in my case. I rolled back the driver (from 197.45 to 181.20) and still get the same issues. I've posted a picture here. I'm using Win XP, and have CivIV 1.74 patch, no other add-ons or expansions (anymore). I have the latest DirectX installed (yesterday). Any other ideas?
