Had a rather strange occurence just now and I cannot figure out what happened.
I was playing an online game with a frend and few AI.
We got to about 1100 AD with no problems.
But suddenly one turn the terrain graphics on my system changed and looked really good. Almost like satelite images.
My machine is not the most up to date, so this ended up making the game run so slowly that it took several minutes for me to even manage to save the game and quit.
After some playing around I cannot even duplicate what it looked like by altering the graphics options. Unfortunately I did not take a screenshot.
I usually play with the options on high (though the anti aliasing on 0) and high quality terrain turned off. (Even turned on it did not look the same.). I also play in a maximised window.
The restart fixed the look and made it play normally again, but I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this and knows either what happened or at least how to fix it if it does happen again?
I am playing with both Warlords and Beyond the Sword installed and the latest patch (3.1.9).
As I said, my system is a little out of date.
Pentium 2.8Ghz (Single Core)
Sioundblaster X-Fi
ATI Radeon 9600
768mb ram
(I know, I know... Just short on cash at the moment. Have been for several years. :S)
