Graphics module erratic

Since I upgraded to BTS, the graphics module is glitched. Sometimes mine is the only civ showing, sometimes it has some of my neighbors but never all. Is there a way to fix this?

could you post your dxdiag results file?
what patch version is this?

The version is 3.1.9.0

please open my games\beyond the sword\civilizationIV.ini and set all items with log in their name from 0 to 1 then start a game and verify that the problem is present - exit the game and post all files in my games\beyond the sword\logs as a zip file here.
Does this occur in the Civ4 game as well or just in BtS?

I've only seen the problem in BTS, not in Warlords or IV.

In the quickie game I logged, at move 50 the graphics display showed only me, Toku, and Hammy, omitting Isa and Ragnar. In the post-game summary, all 7 civs were correctly included.

the only errors in there are some sound problems - could you post a screenshot of what exactly the problem is?

Yes, that's the problem.

that is no bug - its due to the Espionage mechanic added in Beyond the Sword: the demographic screens are now unlocked only if you have acquired a certain amount of espionage points against those opponents
