Graphics problem, crashing.

When I open Civ 3 the opening movie doesn't play, it flashes different shades of black.
Then the main menu in screwed up, there are 12 different heads of someone, I assume caesar. When I try to play a game windows closes it do to something or another.
I've updated my video driver and directx. Sorry, I realize that someone had a similar problem but I cant seem to find that thread.
I've been having problems getting this game to run, but I think this should be the last one. Or else I'll have to do this!

I also downloaded a driver for the monitor, that didn't help.
I've looked at other threads trying to see if anyone has had the same problem and there are mentions of an .ini file? But I'm retarted and can't seem to find that. Can anyone help me??

The .ini file is not created until you start a game.

However, you can create it yourself.

Go to where the executable is, and create civilization3.ini, ptw.ini or conquests.ini, depending on which game you're playing.

Put the line in there PlayIntro=0 . This will cause the game to skip the opening movie.

I suspect from your posts that you have a screwed up install. You'll want to contact the people you got it from and see how you go about installing it again.
