Great Commandant Mod v1.2 (BTS 3.19)​

This mod was created by isolating the source code of The Great Commandant/The Experienced Commandant from Thomas SG's CCV. I just ported it as a standalone. I have removed the random promotions given because it removes them from the promotion progression when enabled.

(From CCV) This component changes the leader behavior to make a leader more individual.

When a Great General is born he gets by random one of the three promotions - leadership, tactics and morale. These promotions are given now to the leader himself and there is no other way to get these promotions! And now these promotions will work for all units (of the same domain) on the same plot! Units will get them if they are on the same plot on gameturn start or when the Great General is born. They get the promotion for one whole turn! So the promotion will stay even if the unit leaves the stack with the leader.

Even if the Great General leads a special unit of a stack his special leader promotion will take effect for the complete stack and not just for his unit! Furthermore the leader will give his 10 free XP just to the unit he is going to lead.

But while these three promotions are exclusive for Great Generals all units with a Commander (this is now for almost all units a valid promotion!) can get now nine new promotions. The commander can get these new promotions! Like the unit itself the commander collects experience points through combat. But the commander promotions work different. They are not given to the stack they are just working for this one unit.

And the best at the end -> the AI knows how to use it!!!

can you explain some more how this works vs the typical great commander mod? does this replace the great commander mod essentially merging that with a attached great general?

Yeah, that's basically how it works. It doesn't have control/command points though.

Hi. I have one problem. I tried this mode... It is very good idea but there is one thing that makes the game very unbalanced. Much you please, could you edit code so that the warlord promotion entity could again be obtained only from the great general unit?
Now, when this promotion normally available each unit, it seems to me a very unbalanced game .
Also would be very helpful if the value of the points on the general promotion was higher than at an promotion unit. To the general's promotion rarer ...
Can you edit code for me, please?

All right , stolenrays . I know that you now have a little time. The error is on my side too. In the first quick test I not noticed and after that I thought that I can solve it in xml. Now I know it is not.
Also, I was looking for where I can set the initial experience points for the general.
Thus, as is the normal unit 2/5 ect
For general points should be set 20/40/80 - If not, the unit have in a short time a huge amount of his and general's promotions.
Game test can prove that 20/40/80 is enough, maybe it will have to be 30/60/90 or more...

OK, I looked at the promotion problem. I'm not sure what is the problem. Which promotion exactly is available? PROMOTION_LEADER or PROMOTION_LEADERSHIP?

I'm going to test your mod in game to see what is going on.

It is in some of the new items in the xml released initial number of xp points for the general?

You are correct hrochland. For some reason the warlord promotion is available to all units. In addition, units seem to receive two extra promotions at random. I'm going to have to think about how to fix this.

That'll really like. If you will have time , try to find out how to increase initiation general xp points. General's promotions should be rare

I understand what you are saying now about the rarity of the promotion.

I have so far taken out the unused onlygreatleaderpromotion tag. I think it was causing the random promotion applications.

The word is actually spelled Commandant.

OK Hrochland, I finally fixed the mod. No more leader promotion available to everyone. I added in a return false in CvUnit.cpp & that fixed it.
