I believe it has been released early to compete with Age of Empires 3 for sales, as they both have roughly the same demography of players. I also suspect that some families who have their kids pestering them about Age of Empires 3 would tell the kids that -that- would be their Christmas gift, although its bought early, thus Firaxis might want to compete with that crowd and get a share, thus "hey, dont go for AOE3, CIV4 is also out get that instead as your early Christmas gift!". I do remember when I was a kid i just couldnt wait, i had to buy a game I like NOW even though another game that i might like more is coming out a month or two down the line.

As for the patch, Id rather have a patch now, and another one in 2 weeks. If im lucky it will fix my problem, if im not then what did i lose, im still gonna have to wait an extra 2 weeks now.

Usually the coders will test if a fix works, and then give it to the QA department for rigorous testing testing and testing on different platforms. Therefore the coders do not get "bogged down with testing", but move on to the next fix. At the end the whole package is tested again as a whole. This could be done for a few fixes and released now rather than a major update 2 weeks away.

Indeed maartena, not every game is going to play on MY SYSTEM right out of the box. But wait **goes checks forums**...hmm, just as i suspected, it isnt JUST my system...i guess you didnt see the flurry of other problems that other people, with various other systems, system configs, and pieces of hardware are having. I mean i can kind of see why, there very hard to find. Theres a line to be drawn of when the margin of error has been surpassed..and in this case it has. The game shouldnt have been released in this state...THERE SHOULDNT BE THIS MANY PEOPLE WAITING FOR A PATCH. But the game was released in this state anyway, and thus firaxis should be doing nothing but working,eating, and ****ing till this game gets fixed. Theres no leeway, they should have been working on this patch while the game WAS BEING SHIPPED! Theres no way your telling me Firaxis didnt see this coming, and if you are, then your taking firaxis for a bunch of idiots. Im in no way saying they could have seen all these issues, but probably some deal of them.

You see, my issue isnt that i have a sloppy game my hands, and you look like a fool trying to act like the problems isolated BTW...but just keep those eyes closed tightly son. You see my issue, is that THE issueS are clearly not isolated, or narrow, there wide, varied, and broad. Its ironic that your telling me that its no big deal that it doesnt work on my system...when in fact the truth of the matter is, your undercutting the probably because it actual runs on yours with minor or no draw backs. This might be a rock to your world, but believe it or not, just cause the game works on your rig with little issues, doesnt mean its ok if it doesnt work on 1 out of every other 4 rigs.

Truth of the matter is being on opposite sides of the river. You have no idea of how BIG of a problem it is on this side. Yet on my side, where probably blowing it out of proportion as well. Neither side is right in there assumption i would say. But i would say youd have to be a fool to not see this game was rushed to the shelves(Cds werent even printed with correct labels, the tech trees werent even shipped in the RIGHT LANGUAGE), and was released in a very bad state. Maybe not as bad as I, or others think it is, but bad enough to make it argueably the worse release of the yr . Its not like i havent had issues with other games before...but ive never come to a tech support forum and see it so flooded so soon with such varied complaints on so many different pieces of hardware.

But whatever, keep defending this putrid release. Its no wonder why the quailty of games has slipped...Its cause of people like you. Cause while firaxis pushed this out the door so they could get PAYED for beta testing, your defending it. But just remember that when it all comes back around and bites you in the ***...only this time it will be a different company, and a different game following the same crappy standards that people like you are saying you can except. But yet will probably blow the whistle when your the one knee deep in the ****.

In other words, yea you can throw rocks at glass houses. But its pretty dumb to go out and build one of your own in the process.

I was wondering, anyone get Quake 4? Maybe i should spend my computer game playing time with something else
