Greetings.

I am currently playing a game where I recieved a Great Engineer. I can use this unit to either speed up production, join a city or get a free tech. This engineer offers the tech called Technology, which is in the list of available techs for me to research, but I am currently researching something else.

However, when I press the icon to get this tech, the engineer does the animation and vanishes, but the tech isn't given to me.

I've encountered this several times prior to the patch, but I was really hoping it would have been sorted in this patch. As it is now I save the game before using the great person to see if I get the tech or not, and if I don't I have to reload the game.

This is rather frustrating seeing how long it takes to reload the game again, but mostly since the engineer can't do what it is programmed to do.

Have anyone else encountered this?

Not sure how expensive this tech is, but might it be the engineer can only partially research it for you? Later in the game, great people can only greatly speed up research, by providing a huge portion of instant beakers. You'd still have to research the remaining beakers yourself though.

I think the great engineer gives you a percentage of a tech after ancient era. So, you actually receive a lot of research, but not enough to have the tech.

yup that is true. put your mouse over the research bar to see exactly how many beakers your engineer contributed. The 'not enough mustard to finish' also applies when you are building wonders. On the other hand, I don't know if you get the left over beakers or shields if you have too much.
