Great Scientist disappeared

I used to have 2 great scientist residing in my capital but I just noticed they are gone now. Does anybody know how could I lose those great people or it is really a bug ? I'm not sur how it could have happen ...

Do you mean as specialists in the city, rather than just waiting there as a unit? If so it sounds to me like you built the Great Library, which gives you two free scientist specialists in that city, but goes obsolete with Scientific Method. They'd therefore disappear as soon as you invented this tech.
