All Planescape: Torments characters were great but Dak'kon was probably the greatest...

The way the story unwound in Myth 2 created some pretty cool characters too, but you never controlled them directly, they just were there somewhere... and I don't remember their names either :( , Garret perhaps? but I think that's Thiefs main character, no matter - great storytelling...

I like Blizzards stories and characters too, they have no problem twisting stories and killing main characters or making them turn evil... "No not Uther!!! he's a hero from the prequel!!"...or Arthas, it's not great but it's still better than some rpgs like the OC in NWN. These things can be enough, I thought WC3:s gameplay lacked but I still played the entire singleplayer-campaign just to follow the story through.

- Max Payne & other characters (I liked more those characters from first payne)
- Gordon Freeman
- Barney
- Evil doctor from Doom III (he's just vicious!)

Maniac Mansion reminds me Sam & Max! How I could forget those unforgettable characters  I just love that couple

Morte from Planescape: Torment
Smiling Jack from Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
HK-47 from KOTOR series
Sephiroth from FF7
Nemesis from Resident Evil 3

Easily: Link (young/old)

Runner-ups:
Cloud
Sephiroth
FF9 characters
Tyrion, Defender of Ulthuan (Warhammer)
Teclis (Warhammer)
Vivec (Morrowind)
