Greek let's play video

Actually, I only took what TheKingOfBigOz said and ran with it! :p
But I was actually uninformed about Compass giving +50% Range (though nothing is stopping them from getting +100% Range - Naval Trade Routes are supposed to be able to reach other continents after all )

Still, nice seeing Carthage actually getting a bonus for International Trade Routes, even if indirectly... :)

The Pyramids were built by paid contractors, and even if they had been built by slaves, that's not incompatible with Liberty. (Liberty represents ancient systems like the Greek Democracy and Roman Republic, and those both made heavy use of slaves.) What annoys me about it is that the Pyramids were built by one of the most absolutist monarchies in the ancient world, as a symbol of the glory of a couple of specific absolute monarchs. To speak in Civ terms, ancient Egypt was every bit a "Tradition" and "Piety" culture. Not "Liberty". Having the Pyramids attached to Liberty may have gameplay value, but it's historically as nonsensical as . . . well, as having Ramesses speaking Arabic.

Piety being in the ancient era should be a great move. With Aesthetics unlocking in the classical era and both religion and culture/tourism being important for a cultural win, it just makes sense.

That and the piety opener is much more useful now. Normally, if I wanted a dominate religion, all my cities would have shrines and most would have temples by the time I even opened piety. Now, it will shave a lot more production turns off if you take that opener ASAP.

I agree. The Pyramids effects makes a lot of sense from a gameplay POV but it makes zero sense from a historical POV. They really should have added a new wonder that does the same thing that The Pyramids does now and changed The Pyramids to something else.

Yes, now that makes sense... allow another wonder to have its effects and change the pyramids effects.

Can we drop that topic? I'm so sick of hearing peopel complain about the Pyramids being in Liberty :| Use the other topic for that so I can avoid it.
