Hello!

I'd like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Donegeal (pronounced like the Irish City: Don-ah-gull). I am an Apolytoner. I am the founding father of the Glory of War (GoW), the team that won the first Poly inter-team Civ III demo game. I have been an active member on all of Apolyton's multi-site DGs for Civ III. I was turn player for both GoW and the elimination round of the Conquests MSDG.
For Civ IV, I have just retired as turn player of team Vox Controlli in poly version of this game. I was turn player for 40+ turns and only retired because my wife recently gave birth to our second child. I have been involved with theLopez in the creation of his Inquisition mod. I was also a participant of Apolycon '06 in Baltimore this past June. Chieftess was also a participant (I gave her a copy of Rise of Legends signed by the designer). My personally biggest claim to fame is I claim to be the inspiration for cottages. When the game was first being developed I put in my two cents about what I thought should be in there. I wrote about a tile improvement I called a 'suburb' that would increase money/production and population. Anyway, enough about me...

What is the situation in the game?

How many active members are there to this team? Who is our leader? Which teams do we have contact with? Who are our enemies? What turn/year is it? Where is the save? Is there a mod that I need to download in order to open it?

Thanks for any info, and it's great to meet everyone!!!

Welcome Donegeal, Lord of Cottages, its good to have you. We are currently in the early ADs under our beloved Leader Conroe. No wars as of yet, if you look at the map in the turnplay log, it isnt really conducive to fighting. My suggestion is read through that one and maybe Stranger Affairs and you can get a good idea on what is going on. Congrats on the young un!

Congratulations, Donegeal, on the birth of your second child! [party]

What is the situation in the game?
As I've been the turnplayer for the last 20 or so turns, I'll try and sum up the current situation for you. You may want to read through the threads that Killercane suggested, as well, as I'm sure I will forget something.

Until recently, we were in last place. Thanks to an incredible deal negotiated by Killercane, we have finally risen to almost last place. We have met all but one team. We met Epsilon, our neighbors, early on. We also know Aloha and Innovia. We have not met Loco, yet.

We are pretty close to tech parity with all of the teams except Epsilon. Although, we do have a monopoly on Philosophy at the moment. We've recently entered into a cooperative tech research deal with Epsilon. I'm not really sure if we have decided to partner up with Epsilon or if we are just using them (or being used?) for the time being.

What has been really hurting us has been our lack of growth. Both in terms of the number of cities and the population of our cities. Until just recently, we were constrained by a low happiness cap. Getting a religion and a winery has relieved some of this pressure, though. Once Taoism is spread around a bit more, we will be revolting to Hereditary Rule and Pacifism.

As for spreading the religion, we've just had a setback. Epsilon's religion has just spread (on this last turn) to our only troop training city. They are going to have a front-row seat to any troop buildup that we do.

The barbs have also been a pretty constant nuasance. And, we will most likely be losing our newest city to a barb Axeman. This one really hurts. This city was going to be the one to put a Caravel into the water for an attempt at the circumnav bonus.

We are currently in the early ADs under our beloved Leader Conroe.
I disavow all knowledge of being "Leader". :p Actually, I was under the impression that Whomp was our leader.

What difficuty level? Barb level?

And I understand that this is a made up map. Sirrian or something like that? The only experience I have with his maps is the one from the MSDG game going on where I am a lurker for Team Apolyton. Anyway, I didn't like the map and that is why I became a lurker. I hope that's not the case here.

Hey Donegal welcome to Piffle. The game is set on prince and is a handmade map by Sirian. He was given full autonomy to do as he pleases with the map and it's definitely different. He has dealt his first surprise which is none of the teams has visible iron. We tend towards an anarchy style of government so anything goes. Personally, my confidence level in this game is not very high so I just talk a lot. Conroe has put us on track and with Killercane we're back on solid footing.
