Well, hello. I'm a newbie to both forum and game, but thanks to this site, I'm learning a lot more about the game. I'd write more, but I'm also at work, and need to be somewhere else.

Wecome to CFC, Ceaserhall. It's amazing that CivII still has new players. Although it can get competitive, the Game Of The Month (GOTM) welcomes newbies and you can learn a lot from the discussion forums and spoilers. There are a few threads written especially for new players too.

thank you. I'm not quite ready to replace my coal burning macintosh with something newer, so Civ2 is about as advanced as I can play now. (in my house, I'm working on capitalization right now--nyuk, nyuk.)

someday soon though....

Welcome aboard, yeah it is strange to have new players of Civ II. I just got back online after a nearly 4 year break without the internet or a PC. A friend of mine happened to be selling off some old PC games and what did he have? Civ II. I'm finding it a bit hard to get back into, and the sad thing was I used to prefer that one to Civ 3 back in the day.

I still prefer CivII to CivIII.
CivIV is markedly better, though.

But CivII is one of the greatestest games. Ever. Cheers for hopping onboard.

welcome! im also new here, its great that civII really has stood the test of time lol. the games over 10 years old and still growing strong for me. ive played it since day one and ill play it until its no longer available and my current CD is worn. this game really is a lifestyle

Welcome, I'm also still amazed at how successful CivII. It's cool how such an old game with poor graphics is very popular, while some more modern games are struggling to hold their own in the video game world.

I am heartless but I can't finish a game of Civilization 2 haha
so a newbie thread would really help me

The "tips and tricks" linked above is probably the best single resource, but to really understand some of it, you have to understand some of the basics of the game and game mechanics. You might also want to look at This one. It is fairly long and unstructured, but it basically covered the evolution of a newbie player into a capable civ player and covers a ton of questions she had as she learned the game over time. Not everything may apply to you but it covers a ton of ground.

Lol sorry for that but reading about Ticks kinda makes me feel like the game is just a big exploit :(
I don't think CIV 2 is for me :(

The two threads Tim recommended are not "exploits", but intended to show you what can be done with the tools available in the game. Its like a chess manual, teaching you how to get the most out of your units.
