LOL I just won my first game and by doing so noticed that they have skipped the hall of fame that is usually in games like these........ This ain't funny

And how the hell do I get that stupid AI to build some usefull stuff if I don't want to spend hours every turn to check on what it put in the que. I mean what is the point in building system colony ships if all the planets in the system already have colonies???

I hate the build AI but I turn it on anyways because it is to much work to look at them all as it is.

And other things that I don't understand is why I have never been able to bomb a planet yet? From time to time I see in my sitrep that I have bombed a panet but I haven't been able to do so myself yet. And another thing, it seems strange to have a navy orbit an enemy system without doing anything - this usually doesn't last more than 1-2 turns but it still is a bloody waste of time..........

Yup, no HoF is dissapointing. I can't see that being added in a future patch. I guess we'll have to live without that. :(

I think there's a mod out there somewhere that decreases the likelyhood the AI starts to build Troop Transport #19,991. Personally, I go through the quees.

Me neither - regular attacks only.

That depends on the size of the colony your fleet orbits. If it is a mere outpost, you can't bomb it, but you can claim it by establishing a colony of your own on it.

Yea troop transports and scout ships are a real favorite of the AI - and soo is command center, Magazine and hackers it seems.......

And my fleets that orbit their colonies, they are my big attack fleets with troops, sometimes they just hang there for a few turns before I get to attack with them!!!

And what is the point in having those guardians on some planets when you don't get anything special from killing them???

Oh and can somebody tell me what that Antaran X thing in the victory thing is??? Is it something I can find or what?? How do I send peeople to find it?

You can only bomb real colonies, no outposts. And you must select "Assault Planet" in the combat screen. And your fleet must not be engaged in another combat in that sector that turn.
Then you´ll go the planet bombardment screen next. There you can also select to unload your troops on the planet, if you have any troop ship in your fleet in orbit. Or you can just destroy the planet if you have planet destroying weapons. :yeah:

The planet AI is really good if you know how to use it and tell it exactly what to do. Use the empire development plans. And mark the ships you don´t want to be built as obsolete. It will still build things like commandos and hackers, but if you control the queues of your high production planets, the generated units will usually not be something you don´t need.
:D

Switch off the ships you don´t want to be built. You will have the support ground units in excess, but not really that many.

See above, you must select "Assault Planet", then select which planet to assault, then defeat any planet defenses and then not be involved in another combat.

The systems are not that bad. But the main point is that you might find an Antaran X on one of these planets.

Go to the Victory screen. Select the Victory Conditions tab. Then select the size of your expeditionary force.
Be sure to have enough ships for that size in your reserves. The AI will automatically pick the ships, starting with reconnaissance ships and those that have research labs on them. It will also select outpost and troop ships of no other left. So you might want to create taskforces with all ships you want to keep first and only let those for the expedition stay in reserves.
Don´t select detachments, they won´t make it. Send waves, packs or armadas only. Send more if you only have smaller, less developed ships. My first successful expedition were 13 ships, Dreadnaughts and Battleships with ~tech lvl 30 and 12 returned with the first X. :yeah:
Also have only the fastest warp on those ships, or expect an expedition to last up to 200 turns.

The status of Antaran expeditions is like the following:
Outbound (up to 20 turns with Impulse Drives)
Destination (up to 20 turns, might be that you can only have one archeology expedition and the others will stay in this state, not sure)
Archeology (I think it needs 5 partial discoveries to retrieve an X, ~10-15 turns)
Inbound (~10 turns, but you´ll get the X-research project earlier)

If your fleet loses all ships before finishing the Archeology state, the expedition is lost, along with all it´s discoveries.

So, there are 3 ways to get Xs.
1. Antaran expeditions.
2. Exploration of the univers, including and especially the Guardian systems.
3. Spying and stealing from another race that owns and X.
:D

Thanks for the hints for the 'Schnitzeljagd', Lucky. I'll put them to good use. ;)

LOL - the second planet I colonized in that game has like 61 system colony ships atm. I was just showing my kid brother how to play the game and then I noticed that it had 21 of the older syscol ships and 40 of the newer syscol ships.

Why the f*ck is it doing that - I mean there are 6 planets in that system and they were all colonized in turn 30 or so but the AI keep building more and more syscol ships!!!!!

Hahaha, never saw that one shadowdale. That is deffinately a bad bit of programming. :) That one has to be reported! Got a screen shot?
