Halo 3 Strategy and Tips

I prefer a small level of players in a map, because you don't want the slaughter to be too non-stop.
I gotta change the Custom Powerup spawn in Narrows, because I found it WAAAY too powerful. Stylesjl in one of the previous games kept grabbing it as it spawned. Although it only lasted 15 seconds, it would spawn quite quickly and it annoys me on how he runs around at 300% speed, 50% gravity, has infinite ammo, 4x overshields and does 10% more damage and is invincible.
However, there's a trip mine powerup on the Weapon Holder where the powerup is located. So if you want to throw it off the mancannon and have it land near a stack of Fusion Coils... then someone like Stylesjl walks past...

Free kill

Or you could shoot them.:D

I hate Rat's Nest, and Foundry isn't the best either. Standoff is in my top 3 favorites, with High Ground as #1, Standoff as #2, and The Pit as #3.

Tip: The battle rifle is better at range than the assault rifle, but at close range with a beatdown the assault rifle wins, as seen here.

Bubble shield makes a fire-free zone. You deploy it, then have a sword, hammer or shotgun ready for anyone who tries to siege your temporary fort

You won't always have a sword, hammer, or shotgun ready. Plus the hammer will blow the shield up. It also leads to elaborate dancing maneuvers to try and get shots off on the other guy, and nobody wins there. The regenerator on the other hand allows you to continue playing normally, but with a much more powerful defense.

Once I was playing my variation of Snowbound (Heavybound) and my dad was trying to get into a Wraith. All I had was a Plasma Pistol and an Assault Rifle. So I charged the gun up and fired at the Wraith before it could go anywhere.
As I ran towards it, I would keep charging and firing to keep the vehicle down.
I ran out of ammo, but I got on to the Wraith and beat down the driver.

Stylesjl sometimes would get into a Wraith, but his fun does not last long before he's Spartan Lasered or I use the Rocket Launcher (as the Fuel Rod Gun is pathetic)

You have a cool dad.

Tip: Stick grenades can be stuck onto blind corners to have the spikes go kill the enemy.

Tip: its a good idea to do things like throwing trip mines in an area where no one currently is or throwing grenades when you dont see anyone every now and then, but not TOO often. You never know what will happen.

Oh and just for a funny story, one time me and my friend were having a one on one match, we were playing to 25 and I had 24, and I threw a plasma grenade and it went into a grav lift and flew back out and we both dodge it, then when Im just about to melee him for the final kill the grenade blows up and sends a rocket launcher flying, I get hit in the back of the head with it and get killed by the Guardians.

I like throwing grenades on the Mancannons in Narrows. Sometimes Stylesjl might be flying on it and he gets a surprise in the form of a glowing blue spider or a flaming orange spike, followed up by landing on the other side and exploding with the fusion coils set up at the bottom of the cannon.
I love my variant of Narrows...

Have you ever played Shotty Snipers Stylesrj?

It's a game with infinite ammo, shotgun and sniper rifle as weapons, no weapon pickup or vehicle use. It's really fun.

Tip: On certain maps (Narrows, The Pit, Standoff) there are massive amounts of grenades all over the place. Grenades are very much expendable, so just spam the other team with them.

I haven't tried shotty snipers, but that sounds awesome.

If I had the Legendary Map Pack and Live, I could reduce the sniper effect by using the blurr forge filter!

What's that?

Tip: On Foundry (Heroic Map pack) you can delete all of the objects on the map and create a big soccer ball, then make speed 300%, gravity 50%, gravity hammers as weapons, infinite ammo/grenades, and invincible armor.

It's soccer!:D

How about Grifball?
Everyone loves Grifball...

What's that?

Tip: On Lone Wolves ranked playlist on The Pit, you can get the sniper rifle and the shotgun and camp near where the shotgun spawns. You're really hard to kill there. Also, on Narrows you can get the shotgun in Lone Wolves and kill all the people coming to get it. I just unlocked my first triple kill achievement like that. Just missed overkill because I reloaded. Don't always reload after killing somebody, especially if you have a kill chain (double kill, triple kill) going. You might just get lucky enough to kill some other sucker.

Lone Wolves?

I don't have live, but I heard if you keep playing Lone Wolves, you can get your Katana as you win all achievements.

Too bad Elites can't use the Katana

Lone Wolves?

Matchmaking>Ranked Playlist>1st option that I can't remember>Lone Wolves

It's every man for himself.

Tip: When using the assault rifle at close to medium range, practice aiming for the other guy's head. You will deal substantially more damage, and even if he started shooting first you may be able to kill him. They normally just aim at your torso, and thus deal far less damage. Then advance towards them and beat them down.

Can anyone give tips on how to get the Killing Frenzy, Stepping Razor, Two for One, and Overkill achievements?
