Hangover moves

Since the new patch, I notice that units will move without orders to hexes they attacked in the last turn. So, if an archer shoots a hex, and that target dies or moves away, the archer steps into the old target hex.

This sucks. Is there a fix for this?
 
This never happens to me, probably because I'm a lame-ass that always clicks the little "ranged attack" icon. If you right click to attack, this sounds like, either 1) a non-intuitive design choice by Firaxis, or 2) an oversight bug. It doesn't feel to me it should work that way.
