Happiness in modern times!

Churchgoing rates in Sweden are very low these days. People simply don't care about religion here. I live in a town called Malmö and all religions are represented here. So what am I then? Well, I'm a member of the Creek Orthodox church. And for all you out there who are familiar with swedish culture you should know that swedish people are protestants. I'm only a swedish citizen but my parents are from Macedonia and since Greece is a more politically stronger country than Macedonia the correct name of my homecountry is F.Y.R. Macedonia (Former Yugoslavian Republic). I was born here but that doesn't matter. A little about me...

What I want to say is that people here in Sweden don't go to church very often. Many people regard it as something out-of-date. I don't go to church. Last time I was there was 5 years ago and that was only because somebody was getting married. Muslims who are regarded as the most religious people don't go to the mosques. I know people from all religions and no one goes to church. But this is the way of life over here.

I know that americans are religious people and I respect that. I read somewhere that 95.4% of all westerneuropeans believe in a God but only 22.3% go to church more than 5 times/year. 35.1% never go to church and I guess I belong in this category.

So Firaxis should keep temples, cathedrals etc but they should introduce some kind of new happiness buildings. And since you can research radio you should be able to research television, maybe in early modern age. Both radio and television have shaped the life of the human in some way. A tvstation is only an example. Some kind of happiness building would be a nice addition.

Commander Bello wrote in his last post that factories, baracks should produce unhappiness. I great idea! this would balance the added happiness.

...For the Modern Ages, you also can argue about the recycling buildings as unhapiness can come out of too high pollution....For the second one, I would agree as I recognize it. However, the pourcentage affected by pollution isn't that big. Maybe should it be increased when one discovers Ecology (you or any civ)...

your wrong. pollution has no effect on unhappiness whatsoever.maybe you might have less happy citizens because one of them has now been turned into a specialist, and there are no other tiles to work, but pollution does nothing to produce unhappiness/decrease happiness

@Milan, try to find many ancient civs without a strong religious presense of somekind. Whether you like it or not, religion strongly shaped the world (you can argue for the better or worse).

True, but that is not the point. There are tons of things that strongly shaped the word that I don't like to see in my game.
At the moment I am quite happy -- with the editor I can beuild an atheist society and it gets easier win (I am lazy, easier=better)
I am worried for this concept of religion that has been announced for Civ4, but after all it is no biggy, as I said, if I think that the game becomes too proselitizing, I just won't buy it

Unhappiness from factories is a good idea, actually.
I think unhappiness from factories is a good idea for the industrial age (when workers were exploited), but in modern age it just look unrealistic to me
